Title: Lighting Supervisor

Overview:

The Lighting Supervisor oversees the day-to-day operations of the Lighting department including consulting with the designer as to feasibility of their design, planning and executing the hang, focus, and strike for PST productions and rentals, supervising lighting crews, maintaining PST+rsquo;s lighting equipment inventory and paperwork, and troubleshooting issues with the lighting system.

Description:

Primary Responsibilities:

Reviews the light plot with the designer to determine feasibility of the design and recommends changes to bring design into scope
Prepares plot for hang and focus including planning cable runs and circuiting, preparing and ordering gel and templates, and creating paperwork for install and run crews
Maintains and organizes lighting equipment and systems including making basic repairs and troubleshooting issues
Makes timely updates to paperwork to ensure documentation and inventories accurately reflect PST equipment and systems configurations
Hangs, circuits, and focuses lighting equipment according to the light plot along with overhire crew
Supervises lighting crews to ensure that equipment is installed safely
Sets up and strikes tables for technical rehearsals and previews
Physical requirements

Must be able to lift and carry equipment sometimes in excess of 50 pounds
Must be able to and comfortable with climbing and working on ladders and scaffolding
Must be able to reach and work with hands over head for extended periods
Must be able to work standing, sitting, kneeling, lying down and in tight spaces
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Skill in the operation and maintenance of theater lighting systems.
Skill in the use and maintenance of hand tools and power tools.
Knowledge of basic digital control protocol (DMX 512)
Ability to effectively communicate.
Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Technical Theater AND,
Two years directly related experience; OR,
Any equivalent combination of experience, training and/or education.
Schedule:

This is a part-time position with variable hours based on the needs of each production
The Lighting Supervisor frequently works evening and weekend hours


Please note that Park Square Theatre signed a voluntary recognition agreement with IATSE Local 13 in July 2025 and is in the process of negotiating a collective bargaining agreement. While nothing is finalized at this point, we expect this position will be included in the bargaining unit.
