Wig/Hair + Makeup Shop Supervisor
Ogunquit Playhouse seeks experienced Wig/Hair + Makeup Supervisor for our 2026 Holiday production of Mary Poppins at The Music Hall in Portsmouth, NH.
Dates:
Contract Starts (Pre-Production/Build): Monday, November 9, 2026.
Tech Starts: Sunday, November 29, 2026.
Previews Start: Wednesday, December 2, 2026
Opening: Friday, December 4, 2026
Closing: Sunday, December 20, 2026
End of Contract: Wednesday, December 23, 2026
Ideal Candidate: Must be detail-oriented and remain focused in a fast-paced working environment with some non-traditional hours. This strategic position is responsible for the coordination of all Wigs, Hair, and Makeup for holiday show while developing and maintaining a capable and cohesive shop staff.
Job Duties/Expectations include (but are not limited to):
- In addition to supervising the Wig Shop and team, this position will have a show track of their own to run alongside Wig Assistants for duration of run.
- Oversee all in-house built pieces, and contracted built pieces to ensure timely delivery and fittings.
- Manage budget and purchase/return receipt reconciliation.
- Arrange/attend fittings and take notes.
- Promote an equitable work environment by continued education and trainings.
- Work in collaboration with guest designers, creative teams, and production crew for ultimate show appearance. Note shows during tech processes as able.
- Assist load-in/load-out, packing, and organizing of wigs or rental packages.
- Supervise purchasing of wig, hair and make-up shop materials, supplies and equipment.
- Manage and update Wig, Hair + Make-up Inventories for Playhouse stock items.
- Maintain a Clean, Organized, and Positive working environment.
- Provide show Bible paperwork and notes in the Google Drive after show opens.
- Develop Running paperwork, and final look and setting documentation for each show including look lists, scene breakdown and any additional info on styling, maintaining and resetting.
- Building Construction of wig foundations, sewing + Ventilation experience required
- Cosmo License preferred but not required.
- Understanding proper cleaning of real hair and synthetic materials.
- Job requires ability to sit/stand for long periods of time, and bend, stoop, or kneel while assisting actors, staff, and designer in execution of duties as assigned.
- Job requires ability to lift, carry, move necessary equipment up and down stairs in varied lighting conditions.
- Unconventional hours may be required.
Position is a W2, $25/hr plus O/T and housing included.

Ogunquit Playhouse will now be offering Health insurance to all employees who are with the company for 120+ consecutive days and work at least 30 hours weekly. Ogunquit Playhouse will cover 75% of employee+rsquo;s company sponsored Health insurance premium. Dental and Vision insurance will also be available at the employee+rsquo;s expense. Employees who work the Ogunquit Playhouse+rsquo;s entire season will also accrue Earned Paid Leave up to 40 hours. Eligibility is based on the length of the contract. Shortening the length of that contract may affect eligibility.
