The Oklahoma Arts Institute is seeking a Lighting Designer for the 2027 Oklahoma Summer Arts Institute at Quartz Mountain State Park + Lodge in Lone Wolf, Oklahoma.
The Lighting Designer will work closely with the Technical Director and production team to plan, program, focus, operate, troubleshoot, and oversee lighting for performances, presentations, rehearsals, lectures, and other events throughout the two-week residential program. The position also includes lighting equipment setup, maintenance, changeovers, and strike; coordination with faculty and production personnel; and lighting support for occasional outdoor and special events.
This is an intensive residential engagement, and some evening, weekend, or overnight work may be required based on the rehearsal and performance schedule.
Compensation: $3,500 flat contract fee. Lodging and meals at Quartz Mountain are provided at no cost, and OAI covers reasonable round-trip travel expenses. The Lighting Designer is engaged as an independent contractor and is responsible for applicable taxes.
Qualifications: Professional or advanced technical experience in theatrical lighting design and production; experience programming and operating theatrical lighting systems; troubleshooting, communication, organization, and collaboration skills; ability to work safely and independently in a fast-paced production environment; valid driver's license; and ability to lift/carry equipment up to 30 pounds. Successful completion of an OAI-required criminal background check is required.
