Technical Designer +mdash; Proof Productions
The Technical Designer turns creative concepts into clear, accurate, buildable solutions. They bridge the creative team, producers, vendors, fabricators, and installation crews+mdash;protecting the design intent while accounting for budget, schedule, materials, engineering, and real-world site conditions.
Primary responsibilities
- Translate sketches, renderings, and creative direction into buildable technical designs.
- Produce floor plans, elevations, sections, details, and production drawings.
- Develop 3D models and presentation views as needed.
- Establish dimensions, materials, finishes, hardware, and construction methods.
- Coordinate scenic, structural, lighting, AV, electrical, graphics, and specialty elements.
- Review venues, site surveys, measurements, access limitations, and installation conditions.
- Work with fabricators and vendors to resolve technical questions.
- Review shop drawings, samples, prototypes, and material submissions.
- Identify design conflicts, risks, and cost issues early.
- Support estimating and value engineering without losing the core creative idea.
- Maintain drawing accuracy and revision control throughout the project.
- Respond to fabrication and installation questions.
- Participate in shop visits, technical rehearsals, installations, and punch lists when needed.
- Document final changes and produce as-built drawings where required.
