About the Cincinnati Shakespeare Company
The Cincinnati Shakespeare Company (CSC) is a resident ensemble theatre company bringing Shakespeare and the Classics to life for audiences of all ages. Producing year-round, CSC executes up to 10 main stage productions, 6 touring productions, and several additional events per season.
Position Overview
The Production Electrician will be hired on an as needed basis with a base schedule of 9am-5:30pm, Monday through Friday during the weeks of build and install. Extended hours and modified workweeks are often necessary due to technical rehearsal schedules, rental appointments, special events, and specific production needs.
When working on Load-ins, The Production Electrician and Lighting Overhire are responsible for the safe installation of lighting equipment and execution of the lighting design under the guidance of the Production Manager, Technical Director and/ or Lighting Designer. Overhire Lighting Technicians will service the theatre for load-ins, changeovers, focus calls, strikes, notes calls and maintenance calls. Specific duties could include but would not be limited to Console Programming, Console Operation, and Show Maintenance. It is possible that all employees may be asked to assist departments beyond their area of focus or expertise in unusual circumstances.

Responsibilities:
Performing as an electrician for load-ins, changeovers, focus calls, notes calls and maintenance calls.
Participating in the preparation of shows. Includes preparing required equipment, organization of color, templates, and other consumables as well as the wiring of practicals and effects.
Participating in the maintenance of lighting department equipment and facilities as assigned: including (but not limited to) theatrical lighting instrumentation, practical electrical properties, backstage running lights, projection equipment, chemical and dry ice foggers, effects devices, cue lights and tech tables.
Involvement as a show electrician as productions require.
Attending technical rehearsals and run-throughs as assigned by the Production Manager.
Maintaining cleanliness and promoting a safe working environment in all Lighting areas in the theatre: Lighting Office, control booths, dimmer rooms, grids, catwalks, work areas, and storage spaces.
Additional related duties as assigned by Production Manager or Technical Director.
Qualifications:
Technical:
3 years previous experience in electrics. Experience in other departments including sound, video, scenic carpentry, properties, rigging, automations, or management a plus.
Comfortable problem solving and making decisions with limited supervision.
Experience with ETC Lighting consoles
Familiarity working in Vectorworks for drafting, construction drawings, plots, etc.
Familiarity and working knowledge of current lighting instruments and equipment.
Ability to read and understand common drawings and paperwork used in theatrical lighting installations.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, energized and quickly changing environment.
Excellent organizational, interpersonal skills with a proven ability to work independently and as a team player.
Willingness to learn and enforce OSHA safety standards and industry safety best practices.
Able to communicate with designers, directors, technicians, vendors, and other collaborators verbally and in writing.

Compensation + Benefits:
Compensation ranges from $15.00 - $25.00 an hour, commensurate with experience, paid through bi-weekly payroll via direct deposit.
