The Front of House (FOH) Manager will oversee audience services and guest experience during performances and events. The FOH Manager will supervise ushers, volunteers, and part-time staff to ensure smooth lobby, concessions, and event operations.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Front of House Manager will:

Oversee front-of-house operations during performances, events, and rentals.

Supervise, train, and support ushers and volunteers.

Welcome patrons and ensure a positive, inclusive audience experience.

Manage audience seating, ticket scanning, accessibility needs, and crowd flow.

Respond promptly and professionally to patron questions, concerns, and emergencies.

Oversee concessions and bar operations, including cash handling and responsible alcohol service.

Ensure FOH areas (lobby, concessions, restrooms, theater entrances) are clean, safe, and inviting before, during, and after events.

Collaborate with administrative and technical staff to ensure smooth event execution.

Maintain incident and event reports following each event.


EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

Prior experience in customer service, hospitality, or event management (arts or nonprofit experience a plus).

Effective interpersonal and communication skills.

Ability to lead teams and work collaboratively.

Calm, professional presence in high-pressure situations.

Knowledge of accessibility and inclusive service practices preferred.

Cash handling and basic point of sale (POS) skills.

Familiarity with alcohol service and compliance (Alcohol Awareness certification a plus).

Ability to climb stairs frequently.
