The Jury Experience is a 60-minute scripted play presented as a live courtroom trial. The audience serves as the jury, and the show features alternative endings based on their verdict.

Notes: Paid pickup rehearsal(s) will be scheduled before each subsequent performance date at the rehearsal rate, based on cast/crew availability. Additional show dates will be added and we are looking for cast with availability into 2027. Call time for performance days is typically 4-6 hours before curtain as tech/dress rehearsals occur directly preceding the first performance of the day. An official run of show is distributed the week of each show, which includes the call time.

STAGE MANAGER

Role Overview
The Jury Experience is seeking an experienced Stage Manager with strong QLab knowledge to support the technical and operational execution of the production. The Stage Manager will work closely with the Producer, technical team, Event Manager, Event Lead, and cast to ensure each performance runs smoothly, on schedule, and according to the established technical and creative standards of the show. This is a hands-on role that requires confidence operating QLab, calling cues, coordinating across teams, and troubleshooting technical issues in a live performance environment.

Key Responsibilities

Pre-Show + Technical Preparation
Review the script, cue sheets, and all technical materials, including audio, video, images, and lighting information.

Download, review, and test the pre-programmed QLab 5 show file prior to rehearsals and performances.
Familiarize themselves with all technical cues and the full run of the show.
Maintain and update cue sheets and show documentation as needed.
Attend required rehearsals and tech sessions prior to the first performance.
Work with venue technicians to complete pre-show checks and confirm lighting, sound, video, and QLab are ready before doors open.

Live Show Execution
Operate QLab 5 during performances, executing audio, video, and image cues accurately and in sync with the show.
Call and coordinate lighting and other technical cues throughout the performance.
Lead the technical execution of the show from setup through the end of the performance.
Troubleshoot technical issues quickly and effectively while minimizing disruption to the audience experience.
Ensure the established run of show is followed and performances remain on schedule.

Team + Show Coordination
Serve as the primary technical point of contact during performances, coordinating with the technical crew, actors, Event Lead, and production team.
Communicate technical or operational issues to the Producer and appropriate team members.
Coordinate with the front-of-house team to ensure the show is ready for doors and begins on schedule.
Support load-in and load-out of show materials as required.
Coordinate printed show materials as needed.
Complete a Performance Report following each performance.

Audience Voting
Operate the Mentimeter audience voting system from a web browser during the performance.
Monitor the voting system to ensure it is functioning properly throughout the show.
Communicate voting results to the Event Lead and coordinate the handoff of results to the Judge actor.

Qualifications
Previous Stage Management, Production Stage Management, Assistant Stage Management, or comparable live production experience.
Strong working knowledge of QLab 5, including operating pre-programmed show files, navigating cue lists, making basic cue adjustments, and troubleshooting.
Experience with live theatre, touring productions, multimedia performances, or other cue-heavy live events.
Comfortable working with lighting, sound, video, performers, and venue technicians.
Strong communication, organization, and time-management skills.
Ability to remain calm and make quick decisions when technical issues arise during a live performance.
Comfortable taking ownership of the technical execution of the show.

Equipment Requirement
Stage Managers must provide their own MacBook capable of reliably running QLab 5 for rehearsals and performances.

Availability + Onboarding
The Stage Manager is required for each assigned show date, including load-in, technical preparation, performances, and load-out. Prior to their first performance, the Stage Manager will complete an

onboarding session with the local team, independently review the script and technical materials, attend the final two in-person rehearsals, and participate in a technical rehearsal when applicable.

QLab Technical Requirements
The show is provided with a pre-programmed QLab 5 file, so advanced programming from scratch is not required. However, the Stage Manager should be comfortable working independently within an existing QLab workspace and making basic adjustments when necessary.

SMs should be able to:
Download, open, and navigate an existing QLab 5 workspace.
Understand cue lists, cue sequencing, and how cues correspond with a live performance and cue script.
Import and replace audio, video, and image files when needed.
Create, rename, and make basic edits to individual cues.
Adjust basic cue settings, including audio levels.
Check audio and video patching and identify common output or routing issues.
Test cues and complete pre-show checks before each performance.
Execute cues accurately and in sequence during a live show.
Identify when a cue has failed or fired incorrectly and take appropriate action without unnecessarily stopping the performance.
Troubleshoot common QLab issues, including missing media, incorrect cue settings, playback issues, or a cue not firing as expected.
Recover and continue the show appropriately in the event of a QLab issue or crash.
Communicate effectively with sound, lighting, video, and venue technicians when an issue requires additional technical support.

The Stage Manager does not need to be an advanced QLab programmer or build the show file from scratch. We are looking for someone who can confidently operate, understand, make basic adjustments to, and troubleshoot an established QLab show file in a live performance environment.


Compensation:
Rehearsals: $21.30/hour for rehearsal hours attended (up to 16 max)
Show Day Rate: $325 per show day, regardless of number of shows per day. Show day rate is inclusive of any day-of rehearsals at the venue.
