The BlackOak Shop Technician is primarily responsible for assisting in the preparation of audio, video, lighting, rigging and staging equipment for events and may assist onsite as a setup or strike technician. This position is primarily shop based, working with the Shop Manager and the other production departments to prep event technical components, cleaning + maintenance of inventory, and assist with any custom build needs. This position is responsible for loading and unloading cargo and setting up and striking (taking down) the events if needed.
Must have at least some audio-visual experience. Must know how to properly over-under a cable.
Ability to work flexible hours including early, late and weekend hours.
Good knowledge and ability to use tools and equipment that may include electrical wire, electrical testers, fuses, pliers, screwdriver, hand drill, tape measure, dollies, scissor lifts, and various size ladders.
Must be 21 years of age.
Must have reliable transportation to our building in Pilsen.
Up to 1 year of event set-up experience preferred.
Ability to understand, read and speak English.
Ability to stand, kneel, crouch, bend and reach during entire work shift.
Ability to work with hands and arms during entire shift.
Must be able to lift, carry, push and pull 50 lbs. throughout the shift. Occasionally may move up to and over 100 lbs. with assistance. Ability to handle fragile items safely.
Must be able to tolerate cold, heat and humid conditions. May be exposed to fumes, airborne particles, and chemicals throughout the work shift. Ability to tolerate moderate noise.
