The Teen Musical Theater of Oregon (TMTO) is the youth theater program of Craterian Performances Company, the owner / operator of the 750 seat Craterian Theater in Medford, Oregon. TMTO currently produces four mainstage productions per year with casts of up to 65 teenagers, in addition to offering summer camps and classes throughout the year. The Technical Director / Lead Carpenter is responsible for the execution of scenic designs and related requirements for all TMTO productions and events. This position works in conjunction with the TMTO Program Director, show Director(s), and multiple department heads. This role maintains budgets; creates calendars; functions as the lead carpenter; and schedules, hires and supervises overhire scenic carpenters and painters. This position is responsible for guiding the scenic construction and engineering decisions throughout the design process, including special effects. As necessary, the TD produces accurate and detailed construction drawings. The TD is responsible for the daily operations of the Collier Creative Center and for supervising the fabrication and paint shops and their teams and resources. Primary Duties
+bull; Supervises the scene shop and paint shops including the building and delivery of all scenery, automation, and special effects for all productions+ndash;this includes the reviewing, budgeting, scheduling, staffing, drafting, construction, installation/load in, storing, and load out of all theatrical productions
+bull; Responsible for the development of engineering and construction solutions for production design, including structural design, rigging solutions, and material specification and procurement
+bull; Responsible for the development of build schedules and estimates in coordination with the Lead Scenic Charge
+bull; Functions as the lead carpenter for all shows, hiring and assigning work to overhire carpenters and technicians as necessary to meet timelines and delivery schedules
+bull; Orchestrates Load-In, Strike and Load-Out, and attends Technical and Dress Rehearsals, and Design Meetings
+bull; Assures workplace safety and develops new protocols and processes to maintain safe and best practices in a dynamic workplace
+bull; Ensures builds are on track with scheduled daily and weekly activities. Frequent check-in with scenic overhires to support workflows, provide guidance, and monitor work quality and deadlines
+bull; Hires, supervises and terminates all scenery and paint overhires
+bull; Maintains all production equipment, tools, stock goods, and scenery
+bull; Coordinates all facility repairs, maintenance, inspections, and compliance
+bull; Works effectively with the Craterian Production Manager, Lighting Director, Audio Engineer, and other departments to coordinate and achieve safe and efficient production process and results
+bull; Keeps the Program Director informed of any problems within the Scenery Department via weekly updates and general sharing of information
+bull; Development and maintenance of production and show budgets, as well as the submission of receipts to Finance according to set deadlines and processes
+bull; Special Events: Works with Program Director and the Artistic Director in the scheduling, logistics and technical requirements of special events
Other Duties
+bull; Assist other theatre staff / departments as needed / required. Become acquainted with the use and operation of all facility systems and all CPC policies and procedures related to areas of responsibility.

+bull; Ability to operate panel vans and box trucks up to 24+rsquo; in length, and tow trailers

+bull; A demonstrated knowledge of stage operations

Physical Requirements / Work Environment
Besides possessing the necessary skill, training and / or experience to perform the described responsibilities and duties, the Technical Director / Lead Carpenter must be able to lift 70 pounds, sit and / or stand for long periods of time; must also be able to remain calm, polite and positive with customers and colleagues in high stress environment and situations.
