Bristol Riverside Theatre is a mid-sized regional theatre whose mission is to engage audiences and artists alike with exceptional performances, inspired writing, and superior productions that motivate us to think harder, to feel more deeply, to laugh more joyfully, and to reflect on ourselves and the world in which we live. Located in the historic district of Bristol Borough, the theatre has a full-time staff of 11 employees. We are committed to building a team that represents a variety of backgrounds and perspectives and reflects our community. We offer over 200 performances per year including 5 mainstage theatre productions, 3-8 presented theatre productions, and 4-8 concerts. BRT operates under a collective bargaining agreement with IATSE Local 8, representing the stagehands employed at the theatre.

DESCRIPTION
We're looking for a detail-oriented Scenic Painter to join our House Crew. This is a part-time, year round position. The Scenic Painter supports the visual needs of the theatre's productions by painting, touching up, and modifying scenic elements as needed. While Bristol Riverside Theatre does not maintain an in house scenic construction or paint shop, the Scenic Painter primarily works with existing scenery and production materials, providing finishing work, repairs, touch-ups, and other scenic painting support as required. The Scenic Painter is supervised by and reports directly to the Production Manager. BRT operates under a collective bargaining agreement with IASTE Local 8, representing the stagehands employed at the theatre.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
-Paint and Touch Up scenic elements, furniture, and props, stage decks, as well as other production pieces as assigned.
-Match existing colors, textures, finishes, and scenic treatments
-Make cosmetic repairs and refresh scenic elements between or during productions.
-Work from scenic designs, paint elevations, reference images, samples, or verbal direction.
-Assist with scenic tough-ups and maintenance throughout the run of a production when needed
-Maintains paint stock, materials, and tools (including purchasing and disposal)

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
-2 + years experience in a professional technical theatre environment
-Working knowledge of pigment color mixing, specialty theatrical techniques, faux finishes, and associated painting tools.
-Ability to work independently
-Outstanding communication skills
-Experience supervising and managing others
-Experience with hand and power tools
-Ability to enlarge scaled images into full sized scenery
-Ability to meet production deadlines and adapt to changing needs

SCHEDULE AND HOURS
This part-time position requires flexibility, with hours varying based on production needs. Weekly hours range from 4-16 hours for show maintenance, presented events, and rentals. Schedules are planned in advance.

BENEFITS:
-Contributions to the IATSE National Benefits Fund per the current CBA (12% as of the 25-26 season).
-Overtime pay after 8 hours daily or 40 hours weekly, as well as on predetermined holidays.
