$50,000 to $65,000 bimonthly

The Maui Arts + Cultural Center is seeking a qualified candidate for immediate hire for the position of ASSISTANT TECHNICAL DIRECTOR. This position reports directly to the Technical Director.

The Maui Arts + Cultural Center opened in 1994 as the culmination of a long-standing dream of Maui+rsquo;s residents to build a world-class gathering place for the arts. Now familiarly known as "The MACC," this center has been described by The Maui News as +ldquo;the artistic and educational heart of an entire community+rdquo; and +ldquo;Maui+rsquo;s entertainment and arts crown jewel.+rdquo;

The MACC is a diverse facility that includes:
- 1200 Seat Proscenium Theater
- 250+ Seat Blackbox Theater
- Outdoor Amphitheater with a capacity of 4000+ seated or 5500+ GA
- Plus several additional ancillary event spaces + meeting rooms

Job Responsibilities include (but not limited to):
- Leading and working with crews on both indoor and outdoor event set up, including building/dismantling staging, erecting scaffolding, installing dance floors and seating, etc.
- Advance meeting rooms and equipment (projectors, microphones) and book crew when necessary
- Advancing assigned shows and communicating details to other tech staff members
- Scheduling crew labor for general stage hands (department heads schedule their own)
- Coordinate with all department heads for smooth advancing, load-ins, strikes
- Secure third party rentals as needed, such as lifts
- Maintaining supplies inventory as needed (stage supplies, first aid supplies, printing supplies)
- Responsible for key distribution within the organization and keeping accurate records of above
Generate bi-monthly payroll, including coding
- Ability to generate estimates and billings
Attend all meetings as assigned
- Assist other departments within the Technical Department as needed
- Show enthusiasm in work + show content, including but not limited to understanding and supporting the Hawaiian culture, cultivating client relationships.
- Must be able to handle advancing and discussing multiple shows at the same time
- Capable of making good decisions if TD is not present

Requirements:
- Formal education in technical theatre or equivalent experience
- Current Valid Driver+rsquo;s License and reliable transportation
- Spreadsheet and invoicing experience desirable (Word, Excel, Google Calendar experience necessary)
- Attention to detail required, organized self-starter
- Basic working knowledge of theatrical rigging
- Able to lift upwards of 50 - 80lbs

Other preferred skills:
- Self-motivated individual able to work on multiple projects in multiple venues often, including sometimes fast-paced and stressful environments
- Must work well and communicate clearly with people from all walks of life (including coworkers and clients) with poise, patience, and a collaborative attitude- in person, via email and phone
- Understanding of Hawaiian Culture, with a strong understanding of what is considered respectful and disrespectful.
- Forklift certification
- Priority will be given to on-island candidates.
