We are looking for candidates who can safely operate common woodworking tools and construct from drawings, dimensions, reference images, or direction from a project lead. Theatre students, recent graduates, freelance theatre technicians, and experienced scenic fabricators are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities may include:

Building scenic walls, platforms, frames, dimensional props, displays, and themed elements
Working with plywood, dimensional lumber, MDF, plastics, foam, and other fabrication materials
Reading and working from shop drawings, construction drawings, cut lists, sketches, and field dimensions
Accurately measuring, cutting, assembling, fastening, and fitting components
Operating table saws, miter saws, circular saws, track saws, routers, jigsaws, drills, sanders, nailers, and other shop equipment
Preparing completed pieces for scenic finishing, installation, packing, or shipment
Assisting with mockups, test fits, final assembly, and project installation when required
Identifying practical construction solutions that maintain the design intent
Maintaining an organized work area and properly caring for tools and equipment
Following all shop safety, PPE, material-handling, and equipment-operation requirements
Working efficiently within project schedules and production deadlines
Preferred qualifications:

Scenic carpentry, theatrical production, themed entertainment, exhibit, display, prop, cabinet, or specialty-fabrication experience
Strong knowledge of common woodworking tools and safe shop practices
Ability to read basic construction drawings and accurately lay out work
Understanding of scenic construction methods, including flats, platforms, framing, skins, laminations, and dimensional assemblies
Ability to work independently while taking direction and collaborating with other fabricators
Experience with curved construction, irregular geometry, foam carving, laminates, plastics, or specialty materials is a plus
Basic welding or metal-fabrication experience is helpful but not required
Ability to safely lift and maneuver materials and completed scenic components
Dependability, attention to detail, and willingness to work within project-driven schedules
A formal theatre degree is not required. Practical fabrication skill, safe work habits, reliability, and the ability to solve problems are more important.
