ABOUT THE ROLE
Chicago Flyhouse is a specialty rigging company providing unique turnkey solutions for rigging in the entertainment, arena and museum industries.
We are looking for a highly skilled and motivated Project Supervisor to join our growing team.
This hands-on leadership role involves overseeing on-site rigging installation crews on projects across entertainment, performance, and architectural environments.
This is a full-time, salaried position based out of our Chicago headquarters.
Frequent travel is required to job sites both domestic and international, including work on new-build construction, cruise ships, and performance venues.
This role requires one or more active certifications in the following critical areas to be eligible for consideration: Entertainment Technician Certification Program (ETCP), Society of Professional Rope Access Technicians (SPRAT) or Industrial Rope Access Trade Association (IRATA) as well as OSHA 30. Equivalent professional theatrical experience will be considered on a case by case bases.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead onsite teams of technicians on installation projects, across a variety of systems including: Counterweight systems, Custom motorized rigging, Automated drapery, Acoustic absorption treatments (e.g., arenas), Complex and unusual rigging solutions
- Collaborate with Project Managers to meet safety, timeline, and quality goals
- Coordinate with our in-house fabrication shop to ensure seamless delivery and installation of custom components
- Assist in preparing pack lists and coordinating procurement and material tracking with the Project Manager
- Work with our Automation department to ensure accurate implementation of motorized and electronic systems
- Manage multiple active installations, ensuring project needs are prioritized and executed efficiently
- Document and revise technical drawings based on real-world site findings
- Represent the company in meetings and site visits with clients, architects, consultants, and contractors
- Participate in in-house fabrication and planning as needed between installations
QUALIFICATIONS
- Proven experience leading rigging installation crews, both Union and non-union
- Strong understanding of both manual and motorized rigging systems
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics
- Excellent organizational and multitasking skills
- Comfortable interfacing with clients, contractors, and stakeholders
- Self-motivated, dependable, and able to lead by example
- Willing and able to travel frequently (up to 80% of the year), including international trips and cruise ship work
- Able to work flexible hours to accommodate client and project schedules
PHYSICAL and TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
- Must be able to travel by airplane (domestic + international)
- Must be able to work on cruise ship vessels when required
- Must be comfortable working at height when required
- Preferably operate out of our Chicago, IL headquarters
- Must be able to work occasional off-hours or extended hours based on project need
COMPENSATION and BENEFITS
- Full-Time, Salaried Position paid weekly via W2
- Annual Base Salary, Minimum: $80,000
+bull; Eligible for Weekly Overtime Pay
