The Audio Visual Supervisor is a key member of the Fireside Theatre Production Team responsible for the design, implementation, operation, and management of all audio, video, show control, and communication systems for Fireside productions, special events, and other projects.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Primary sound designer for Fireside productions, special events, and other projects
Partners with directors, designers, and production staff to create effective and engaging sound designs
Creates, edits, programs, and maintains sound cues, music, effects, playback systems, and show documentation for theatrical productions and events
Manages all audio and A/V systems, including digital consoles, QLab, Dante networking, wireless systems, intercoms, recording systems, and related technology
Oversees all the audio department staff, including training/mentoring, and scheduling
Manages audio budgets, equipment inventory, purchasing, maintenance, and departmental needs
Supports rehearsals, technical rehearsals, performances, concerts, and special events through audio setup, operation, troubleshooting, and live mixing
Collaborates with production, artistic, and other departments to ensure the successful execution of all audio and technical needs
Attends required production meetings, designer runs, technical rehearsals, previews, and performances as needed
Handles multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work independently while collaborating with creative and production teams
Performs all other duties as requested by management
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Sound Design, Audio Engineering, Theatre Technology, or a related field preferred; equivalent professional experience will be considered
Professional experience in theatrical sound design, live audio production, and audio system management
Experience supervising, mentoring, and/or managing audio personnel preferred
Proficiency with digital audio consoles including DiGiCo (preferred), QLab, Dante networking, digital audio workstations (DAWs), wireless microphone systems, and theatrical audio workflows.
Strong troubleshooting, organizational, and communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with creative and production teams
Sharp problem-solving skills with the ability to make informed decisions in a fast-paced production environment
This position has a flexible schedule but does require availability that includes nights, weekends, holidays, and additional time during rehearsal and tech weeks.
Pay is negotiable based on experience.
