The carpenter is primarily responsible for assisting the scenic department in the construction, install, and strike of all Virginia Stage Company productions and special events. Night and weekend hours will be necessary.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES + RESPONSIBILITIES
Interpret construction drawings and plans from the technical direction team to create drawn scenic elements.
Create cut lists and other notes as needed to maintain organization.
Communicate any errors or concerns regarding drawings, shop tools, material counts, etc. with the Technical Director and Assistant Technical Director.
Working with shop tools such as saws, pneumatic tools, drills, etc., after being trained by the technical direction team.
Maintain a safe and orderly working environment compliant with OSHA regulations.
Participate in load-in and strike for all shows and/or special events into the Wells Theatre as directed.
Perform duties as running crew for show calls such as an automated fly operator, stage crew, or other as assigned.
Work with the Props Manager on large prop projects, as directed by the Technical Director.
