Part-Time Scene Shop Supervisor
Location: Old Dominion University Norfolk, VA
Schedule: Monday+ndash;Thursday | 1:00 PM+ndash;5:00 PM
Hours: 16 hours per week
We are looking for a reliable, hands-on, and organized Scene Shop Supervisor to join our team at Old Dominion University. This part-time position is ideal for someone who enjoys working with their hands, teaching shop skills to students, and bringing creative projects to life.
Responsibilities
Supervise and support students and staff working in the scene shop
Oversee daily shop activities and keep projects moving on schedule
Assist with set construction and scenic painting
Ensure tools, equipment, and materials are used safely and properly
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
Collaborate with Technical Director to bring scenic designs to life
Qualifications
Experience in theatrical scenery, set construction, carpentry, scenic painting, or a related field
Strong organizational and communication skills
Ability to supervise and work effectively with others
Comfortable using common shop tools and equipment
Commitment to maintaining a safe and positive shop environment
Dependable, proactive, and able to work independently
