Position Summary

The prop crew is an integral part of the production team responsible for evening backstage operations. This crew is responsible for any and all items carried by the performers, as well as any furniture or set dressing on the scenic elements. Working outdoors, the crew's tasks include pre-setting items prior to every performance, completing hand-offs to actors, and receiving/tracking items throughout the performance, as well as storing all prop items at the end of every night.

Responsibilities

Pre-set prop elements prior to performances
Facilitating the proper placement of props throughout the performance
Assist with the on-going inspection of each prop element to identify needed repairs
Generate and maintain all paperwork assigned by the Supervisor
Adhere to/enforce all rules and regulations required by the Actor's Equity Association, including Covid-19 additions
Ability to work with performers and staff in a positive and professional manner while on campus at all times
Maintain and keep spaces clean daily
Maintain the integrity of the props
Maintain a flexible schedule for work calls especially during tech weeks
Adhere to and promote all Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards and maintain a safe work environment
Contribute to the overall success of the Production Department by performing any additional duties and responsibilities assigned.
Required Qualifications

At least 2 years of professional work experience in a live theatrical environment as a crew member or equivalent educational experience
Demonstrated knowledge of/and experience in a variety of prop making techniques
Ability to collaborate with the Prop Supervisor to efficiently complete assigned projects
Ability to maintain a professional work environment that reports to a Supervisor
Ability to work outside in a desert climate
Ability to listen, take instruction, and to participate in a team to complete assigned tasks
Ability to remember and complete tasks on your own in a backstage environment
Working knowledge of standard scene shop tools
Excellent organizational skills
Excellent time management skills
Excellent communication skills
Ability to work under tight deadlines
Works well in a fast paced and high pressure environment
Must be able to run short distances and use stairs
Must be able to stand length of show
Ability to lift 40+ lbs
