Design Solutions. Build Relationships. Transform Performance Spaces.
At Olden Lighting, we don't believe in just selling products, we believe in creating exceptional spaces.
For more than 40 years, we've partnered with schools, universities, churches, performing arts centers, architects, and facility owners to design lighting, rigging, audio, video, and control systems that enhance performances and create memorable experiences.
Every project is unique. Every customer has different goals, challenges, and budgets. Our job is to understand how they use their space, help them envision what's possible, and design solutions that bring those ideas to life.
We're looking for an experienced Entertainment Systems Consultant + Sales Representative who enjoys building long-term relationships, solving technical challenges, and becoming the trusted expert customers call first.
What You'll Do
As an Entertainment Systems Consultant, you'll guide customers from their first conversation through the design and proposal process. You'll spend your time building relationships, understanding customer needs, designing entertainment systems, and working closely with our estimating team to turn concepts into accurate proposals.
Your responsibilities include:
-Build and maintain relationships with K-12 schools, universities, performing arts centers, churches, architects, facility owners, and existing customers.
-Develop new business opportunities throughout Texas.
-Visit customer facilities to understand how their spaces are used and identify opportunities for improvement.
-Design lighting, rigging, audio, video, control, curtain, and theatrical systems that meet each customer's goals and budget.
-Gather complete project information and communicate it clearly to our estimating team for proposal development.
-Present system recommendations and explain the benefits of proposed solutions.
-Maintain consistent communication with customers throughout the sales process.
-Manage opportunities and customer information within our CRM.
-Attend industry events, conferences, networking opportunities, and lunch-and-learn presentations.
-Coordinate with internal teams to ensure projects transition smoothly from sales to installation.
What Success Looks Like
Success in this role is measured by building strong customer relationships, developing a healthy project pipeline, maintaining excellent communication, and helping customers successfully bring projects from concept through completion.
Within your first year, success may include:
-Developing lasting relationships with school districts and key decision makers.
-Maintaining an active pipeline of qualified opportunities.
-Supporting multiple projects simultaneously as they move from concept to installation.
-Becoming a trusted advisor customers rely on for entertainment technology solutions.
-Communicating project information clearly so estimating and operations can execute efficiently.
What Makes This Role Different
This isn't a high-pressure, transactional sales position.
You're not expected to make hundreds of cold calls or push products customers don't need. Instead, you'll work closely with customers to understand how they use their facilities and recommend solutions that fit both their vision and their budget. Sometimes that means designing a complete system today. Other times it means creating a phased plan that helps them achieve their long-term goals over time.
If you enjoy solving problems, educating customers, and building relationships that last for years, you'll thrive here.
Qualifications
We're looking for someone who has:
-Experience in entertainment technology, theatrical systems, AV integration, production, or a closely related industry.
-The ability to design entertainment systems or the aptitude to quickly learn system design.
-Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
-Confidence meeting with architects, school administrators, theatre directors, consultants, and facility managers.
-Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
-The ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to both customers and internal teams.
-A self-motivated, independent work ethic while collaborating effectively with a team.
-A valid driver's license and willingness to travel throughout Texas.
Physical Requirements
This position may require:
-Walking construction sites and customer facilities.
-Climbing ladders and accessing catwalks when necessary.
-Lifting and transporting demonstration equipment.
-Working in theatres, auditoriums, schools, churches, and active construction environments.
-Occasional overnight travel.
What You Won't Be Doing
This position focuses on sales, consulting, and system design.
You will not be responsible for:
-Project management
-Installation work
-Service calls
-Purchasing
Our operations and installation teams handle project execution so you can focus on building relationships and helping customers create outstanding entertainment spaces.
Compensation
-Base Salary: $80,000 to $100,000
-2% uncapped commission on completed sales (commission is calculated on the project total excluding taxes and shipping and paid the quarter after the project has been paid in full).
Benefits
We believe in investing in our employees.
Benefits include:
-100% employer-paid health insurance after 30 days
-Dental and vision insurance available after 30 days
-Employer-funded 3% 401(k) contribution after 90 days (no employee match required)
-Paid industry training and certifications
-10 days of paid time off
-Paid birthday off
-10 to 12 paid holidays
-Bereavement leave
-Paid parental leave
-Company-paid life insurance
