Crystal Springs Uplands School is seeking a Costume Designer for their Middle School Drama productions. If you love working with middle school-aged students and helping them to shine, come and work with our amazing team of artists.

Responsibilities of the Costume Designer include:
Working with the Director and Technical Director of each production to put together a design that features the students and sets them up for success.
Building, renting, or pulling from the school stock the costumes needed for the show.
Working with, and mentoring, student costume crew members and parent/guardian volunteers to execute all costume needs which may include some costume fabrication.
Attend production meetings that will be scheduled once a week based on the availability of the technical director, costume designer, and director(s) leading up to performances.
Attend weekly costume build days starting 10 weeks prior to the date of the respective Costumes Run listed below.
Work with Producer and Technical Theater Manager to manage the budget for the costume needs of the Fall Plays and Spring Musicals.
Mentor student costume crew in obtaining and organizing all materials needed for costumes.

Requirements of the Costume Designer:
+middot; Experience in sewing from patterns.
+middot; Desire to work in a school setting.
+middot; Experience working in a theater and understanding +ldquo;safe practices+rdquo; with students and volunteers.
+middot; Passion for creating theatrical magic for and with young aspiring artists.

Time Commitments:

Middle School Play (Fall 2026):
Aug 31 - Nov 13: 1-Hour Bi-Weekly Production Meetings
Sept 14 - Nov 13: 1.5-Hour Weekly Student Costume Build Days
Week of Oct 5 - Oct 8: 1-2 Days of Costume Fittings During Rehearsals (~2 hours each day)
Week of Oct 19 - Oct 23: 1-2 Days of Costumes Final Looks During Rehearsals (~2hours each day)
Nov 16 - Nov 18: Tech and Dress Rehearsals (3-6 pm each day)
Nov 19: Opening Performance (5-8:30 pm)
Nov 20: In-School Performance (12-3:30 pm)

Middle School Musical (Spring 2027):
January 5 +ndash; March 20: 1-Hour Bi-Weekly Production Meetings
January 12 +ndash; March 20: 2-Hour Weekly Student Costume Build Days
Week of February 23 +ndash; February 27: Schedule costume parade with Director and Student Costumers
March 23 +ndash; March 25: Dress Rehearsals
March 26: Opening Performance (5 pm-8 pm)
March 27: In-School Performance (1:30 pm-3pm)

Compensation:
$5,000 per show or $10,000 for all productions.
