Frost Productions is seeking an experienced, dependable, and motivated **Freelance A2 Audio Engineer** to support our live event production team. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with professional audio systems and enjoys working in fast-paced event environments. This role is essential to ensuring seamless audio execution for corporate meetings, galas, conferences, fundraisers, concerts, and special events throughout New England.
The A2 Audio Engineer works closely with the A1 Audio Engineer, production managers, clients, and technical crews to deliver exceptional audio experiences while maintaining the highest standards of professionalism, organization, and customer service.
Responsibilities
* Assist the A1 Audio Engineer with the setup, operation, and strike of professional audio systems.
* Build, patch, test, and troubleshoot audio systems before and during events.
* Deploy, coordinate, and maintain wireless microphone systems, IFBs, in-ear monitors, and communication systems.
* Perform RF coordination and monitor wireless systems throughout rehearsals and live events.
* Handle microphone placement and changes for presenters, executives, performers, panelists, and VIP guests.
* Manage stage patching, cable runs, and signal flow.
* Assist with playback systems, intercom, show cueing, and backstage communications.
* Monitor system performance and quickly resolve technical issues with minimal disruption.
* Maintain clear communication with the A1, production managers, and stage managers throughout the event.
* Ensure all audio equipment is maintained, organized, and packed according to Frost Productions' standards.
* Follow company safety procedures and industry best practices.
* Represent Frost Productions professionally while interacting with clients, venues, and event staff.
Qualifications
* Minimum **2-3 years** of professional live event audio experience.
* Working knowledge of professional digital audio consoles such as Yamaha, Allen + Heath, DiGiCo, Avid, Midas, or similar platforms.
* Experience with wireless microphone systems, RF coordination, signal flow, Dante audio networking, and audio troubleshooting.
* Familiarity with corporate event production, executive presentations, general sessions, breakout rooms, and live entertainment.
* Ability to read audio plots, stage plots, and event documentation.
* Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail.
* Excellent communication and client-facing skills.
* Ability to work efficiently in fast-paced environments while remaining calm under pressure.
* Ability to lift and move equipment up to **50 pounds**.
* Reliable transportation and willingness to travel throughout New England.
* Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays based on event schedules.
Preferred Experience
* Experience supporting high-end corporate meetings, executive presentations, award shows, fundraising galas, and conferences.
* Familiarity with Dante, QLab, Shure Wireless Workbench, RF Venue products, and common DSP platforms.
* CTS, Dante, Shure, or manufacturer certifications are a plus, but not required.
* Experience working alongside lighting, video, staging, and show production teams.
