Job description:
The Production Electrician is responsible for the maintenance, installation, and safe use of lighting and electrical systems in Fredrick Loewe Theater at Hunter College. They work closely with the resident faculty lighting designer, production manager, and technical director to support one mainstage production and other smaller events on campus. They will oversee over hire electricians and student crews and mentor and train students. The Production Electrician will need to practice and demonstrate professional and industrial safety standards.

Key Responsibilities
-Load-In, focus, circuit, and maintain light plots of conventional stage lighting fixtures, moving lights, and LED lighting fixtures.
-Programing the ETC Ion XE for the Fall Production.
-Instruct students in the operation of the lighting console for the performance run.
-Troubleshoot and repair electrical and lighting system issues before and during rehearsals and performances.
-Operate lighting systems during technical rehearsals, performances, and special events as assigned.
-Coordinate with strike, and storage of lighting equipment.
-Update and maintain accurate inventories of lighting equipment, lamps, cables, and accessories.
-Train and supervise over hire electricians and student crew members.
-Safely use ladders, rigging equipment, and power tools.
-Ensure compliance with OSHA and Hunter College and Industry safety standards.
-Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.

Required Qualifications
-High school diploma or equivalent; technical theater training or related education preferred.
-Experience in theatrical, concert, or live event lighting and electrical systems.
-Knowledge of DMX control systems, dimming systems, LED fixtures, intelligent lighting, and ETC Eos lighting consoles.
-Ability to read lighting plots and electrical diagrams.
-Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
-Knowledge of electrical safety procedures and applicable codes.
-Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work at heights.
-Ability to work in low-light, high-noise, and fast-paced production environments
-Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and flexible schedules based on production needs.

Hunter College - Fredrick Loewe Theater
This position will support the B.A. undergraduate productions in Hunter College+rsquo;s Theatre Department. The Fredrick Loewe Theatre is a 3,000 Sq Ft configurable Black Box theater with a 14 Ft. Grid with 144 conventional dimmers, a compliment of LED Fixtures and 2 Solaframe Moving Lights. The console is an ETC Ion.
