Deck Hand (Theater)
The smash-hit burlesque parody, A Nightmare on Strip Street, is coming to Phoenix. NX5 Theatrical is now accepting submissions for an experienced Deck Hand.
THE SHOW
Combining comedy and dance, A Nightmare on Strip Street, has a cast of 11 and is a stunning visual treat. See nightmareonstripstreet.com for more about the show.
SALARY
$1200 weekly.
This includes up to 40 work hours with overtime being awarded for any hours worked beyond the initial 40.
TERM OF EMPLOYMENT
Tech: Thursday, July 30 and Friday, July 31
Show Run: Friday, July 31 - Sunday, August 23
There is a potential for an extension of this run, to be determined in the first week of August.
WEEKLY SCHEDULE
Monday and Tuesday: Off
Wednesday: 3:00 pm work call, 7:30 pm curtain
Thursday: 5:30 pm show call, 7:30 pm curtain
Friday: 5:00 pm show call, 7:00 pm curtain
Saturday: 5:00 pm show call, 7:00 pm and 9:30 pm curtain
Sunday: 2:00 pm show call, 4:00 pm curtain
Shows may be added up to eight shows a week Wednesday - Sunday during the run.
POSITION SUMMARY
The primary role of the deck crew includes: scenic changes and handling props throughout the show; presetting props and scenic before shows; maintenance of scenic and props throughout the show run.
Responsibilities Include:
- Attending all technical rehearsals, performances and work calls.
- Completing assigned run track. This includes maintaining prop or costume placement, manipulating scenery, and operation of puppets.
- Notifying the Stage Manager immediately if issues arise with any scenery or props. Deck Crew should attempt to resolve issues within their abilities as soon as possible.
- Adhering to all guidelines outlined in the employee handbook.
- Maintaining any paperwork for the show including, but not limited to, written instructions, check lists, tracking sheets and cue lists.
- Performing general care and maintenance of departmental tools and equipment, including all house gear and any rental equipment.
- Regularly maintaining, organizing, and inventorying all expendable items, gear, and tools.
- Maintaining a clean and organized workspace.
- Adhering to all safety practices and procedures set forth by Stage Manager and Production Management.
- Checking email and Whats-App daily.
The deck crew must be respectful of others at all times, be safety conscious, and demonstrate a focus on team work and collaboration. Due to the sensitive nature of this production, we demand a high level of professional conduct.
Please note: Water-based haze and strobing lighting effects are used during rehearsals and performances.
