Production Manager

Wild Kratts Live! 2.0 is a children's theatrical production based on the popular PBS Kids animated television series Wild Kratts, starring Chris Kratt and Martin Kratt. The show plays one or two shows a day, with a load-in and load-out each day, followed by overnight travel to the next venue. This is a one-truck show with a fast-paced schedule.

Description: 

Position of Production Manager requires leadership of crews, along with supervision and management for all technical and production departments. Has primary responsibility for venue advances, show upkeep, and overseeing daily operations on the road. The Production Manager will also fill the role of the crew swing when needed. The goal of the crew swing is to learn the tracks of touring crew members in case of illness or injury. This also means the day-to-day responsibilities may change.

Responsibilities:  

Crew Management 
- Work with Company Manager to advertise, interview, and hire touring crew members.
- Production Manager will act as direct report for all touring personnel and work with Company Manager in managing crew.  
- Lead production meetings with tour staff in preparation for touring dates. 

Advance Work with Promoters/Venues 
- Serve as primary venue contact for prospective and confirmed venues for details about production. 
- Conduct technical checks for prospective venues with Tour Director and Booking Agent.  
- Create sightline drawings for confirmed venues prior to on-sale to ensure all seats sold align with production plans.  
- Oversee advance communications (work with local stewards and production staff about schedule, labor calls, and logistics) for all shows and work with Company Manager to coordinate with local and touring crew on logistics and scheduling. 
- Coordinate production rentals with Company Manager to obtain necessary equipment for the tour.

Crew Swing
- Shadow crew and use documentation to learn crew tracks and serve as backup in case of illness/injury. The crew consists of 7 touring backstage crew including the PM - Stage Manager, Head Carp, Head Props, Head Wardrobe, Head Elecs, and Head AV.

On Tour
- Manage shop prep and pre-tour production logistics. 
- Lead top-of-day meetings with tour crew to review details from the advance, coordinate setup plans, answer questions, and manage any last-minute changes.
- Work with local stewards and tour heads to manage local crew hours and costs.
- Supervise local production runner to handle talent transportation, hospitality, and shopping as needed and maintain petty cash bank to account for on-tour expenses as needed.
- Manage talent (2 actors) needs such as hospitality and general requests.
- Communicate with bus and truck drivers on any questions or logistics that arise on tour.
- Liaise with on-site hospitality staff and remote Company Manager to ensure hospitality needs are met.
- When requested, assist with FOH operations such as escorting talent to meet and greet.
- Provide hands-on support for touring crew as needed to solve issues. Some examples: assist crew with maintenance and conduct basic repairs or troubleshooting the rental projectors.
- Review labor bills for accuracy and correct any discrepancies prior to departing venue

Show Upkeep 
- Work with Company Manager to track production repairs and maintenance, schedule work calls with touring crew in regard to repairs and oversee show upkeep.  
- Work with crew to create and maintain show paperwork, including inventories, cue sheets, drawings, riders, crew information, checklists, and archival documentation.  
- Work with Company Manager to contract out repairs that cannot be accomplished in-house or by Company Manager.  

Tour Dates:
- October 12-19, 2026 (October 12 and 19 are tour travel dates)
- November 10-16, 2026 (November 10 and 16 are tour travel dates)
- January 19-25, 2027 (January 19 and 25 are tour travel dates)
- February 16-22, 2027 (February 16 and 22 are tour travel dates)
- March 30-April 5, 2027 (March 30 and April 5 are tour travel dates)

Qualifications: 
- Candidate should have minimum 5 years, in the touring industry with department leadership or management experience combined with a technical aptitude for making it happen no matter what the obstacle or challenge. 
- Familiarity and experience with details of props, scenery, and wardrobe with an emphasis on lighting, sound, and video.
- Experience with EOS lighting consoles and Qlab audio/video playback.
- Experience working with IATSE crews and familiarity with union rules and working conditions. 
- Familiarity with Vectorworks and/or AutoCAD 
- Familiarity with Master Tour software a plus 

Compensation:  

Day Rate between $500 and $600 (DOE) with additional hours outside of touring dates at $40/hour

Additionally, when travel is required: all bus, train, airfare, ground transportation, and lodging are covered by the employer, plus per diem in line with USA GSA standards for the region where travel is occurring.
