STAGES St. Louis, a professional musical theatre company in our 40th season, is currently seeking a Technical Director to join our full time staff. The Season, which runs from May through October, consists of three large-scale musicals. STAGES St. Louis strives to create a diverse and inclusive environment.
Essential Functions:
+bull; Estimate material and labor needs for all productions based on the script, designer models, drafting+rsquo;s, and meetings.
+bull; Complete understanding of how all scenic pieces are used onstage and in offstage storage.
+bull; Select the best construction method and materials of scenic units in collaboration with designer.
+bull; Create and distribute construction drafting+rsquo;s to staff. Ensure staff are properly instructed on assembly processes.
+bull; Ensure timely and accurate budget reports.
+bull; Post and update construction timetable and crew work schedules for each production.
+bull; Hire, retain, and supervise the Assistant Technical Director, Paint Charge, Property Supervisor, Electrics Supervisor, Audio Supervisor, and staff.
+bull; Oversee maintenance of shop equipment and facilities in coordination with the production manager.
+bull; Work with staff to create a safe, positive, and productive work environment.
+bull; Attend all design conferences and production meetings.
+bull; Review and approve all scenic, paint, properties, lighting, audio, and stagehand payroll.
+bull; Make capital improvements and strategic plans for shops with department heads.
Other Responsibilities:
+bull; Act as vehicle manager, including up-keep, security, and operation for STAGES production vehicles.
+bull; Keep accurate inventory of company equipment for paint, scenic, electrics, properties, and audio shops.
+bull; Coordinate rentals as needed.
+bull; Provide support to development and education events as assigned by production manager.

Education, Experience, and Skill Level required:
+bull; Bachelor+rsquo;s degree in theatre with education and experience in scenic construction, or related work experience required.
+bull; Minimum 4-5 years+rsquo; professional theatre experience with at least 3 years+rsquo; experience as a Technical Director or similar position.
+bull; Knowledge of construction techniques for carpentry, rigging, and welding required.
+bull; Experience required in Excel, Word, Outlook, AutoCAD, and Google Sketchup.
+bull; Ability to drive 26+rsquo; box truck.
+bull; Working knowledge of OSHA and NFPA regulations.
+bull; Familiarity with unions preferred including A.E.A., U.S.A., S.D.C., and A.F.M.
