Position: Production Manager

Position Overview:
The Production Manager plays a critical leadership role in advancing Pilobolus+rsquo;s mission to create boundary-pushing, transformative art and educational opportunities through movement. This position ensures that all aspects of production planning and technical operations align with the company+rsquo;s creative vision and organizational goals. The role requires managing the seamless execution of Pilobolus+rsquo;s touring, performance, and creative activities, while supporting our commitment to innovation, collaboration, and artistic excellence. Travel is involved to ensure crew operations run smoothly, fostering a hands-on approach to our shared mission.
Key Responsibilities:
Support Artistic Creation: Work closely with the Artistic Team to help develop New Work and special projects through participation in brainstorming and R+D processes.
Crew Hiring + Management: Oversee the recruitment and management of touring production crews for all tours and performance engagements.
Touring + Local Engagements: Pack and prepare for all touring and local performance engagements. Reserve, pick up, and load touring trucks. Maintain up-to-date DOT registration.
Travel + Crew Oversight: Travel occasionally to ensure crew operations are running smoothly and provide hands-on support by filling in for crew positions when necessary.
Communication + Coordination: Facilitate communication between venues and the production team, as well as within the touring company by passing advance information between DC (Dance Captain), PSM (Production Stage Manager) and LS (Lighting Supervisor), and truck driver.
Equipment + Props Management: Oversee the maintenance of touring equipment, costumes, and props. Track and order technical supplies as needed.
Costume + Vendor Management: Coordinate the costume builds and fittings for new dancers or cast changes. Source and manage production vendors, including stitchers, local labor overhire, or equipment repair services.
Warehouse Organization: Ensure proper organization and cleanliness of the warehouse.
Archival Systems: Maintain archival organization systems in the Production Drive to ensure all production materials are properly cataloged.
Scheduling + Technical Advances: Develop detailed schedules for all touring stops, PCS engagements, and local performances. Conduct technical advances with venues for upcoming engagements.
Designers + New Works: Manage contracting, communication, and production processes for new work elements.
Tour Inquiries: Assess, negotiate, and make decisions on touring and PCS inquiries in conjunction with the General Managers. Approve rider notes from presenters. Determine what repertory can and cannot be done in venues.
Rehearsal Support: Provide rehearsal support by replenishing supplies and bringing props and costumes as needed from storage.
Costume Maintenance: Manage laundry and dry cleaning for costumes and fabrics.
Project Oversight: Drive progress on assigned projects by setting up workback calendars, encouraging conversation and collaboration among team members, setting meetings, and enforcing deadlines.
Qualifications:
Proven experience in both production management, preferably in a performing arts or touring company environment.
Strong organizational and multitasking skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams (artists, technical staff, presenters, etc.).
Ability to travel as required by production schedules.
Ability to lift 50lbs.
Valid drivers license and ability and comfort with driving box trucks.
Valid passport.
Annual salary is $75,000, paid biweekly. Company benefits package includes family health and dental coverage and individual basic life, short and long-term disability, 403(b) plan, and paid vacation.
