Production Flex Specialist (ESR)
Company: Events by Design
Department: Production
Employment Type: Part-Time, W2 (Non-Exempt)
The Opportunity: Your Schedule, Your Design
Events by Design is redefining the production experience for both our clients and our crew. We are seeking skilled Audiovisual and Event Technicians for our Elective-Schedule Role (ESR).
While our full-time staff handles the standard weekly production cycles, our ESR team members are the "Agile Force" that brings our largest events to life. This role is designed for the high-level freelancer, the student of the craft, or the industry pro looking to supplement their income without sacrificing their personal calendar.
The "Agile Staffing Model": We provide the platform and the projects; you choose the hours. Through the Homebase app, you have total autonomy to claim open shifts that align with your expertise and availability+mdash;ranging from weekday corporate sessions to weekend galas and overnight installs.

Technical Requirements + Responsibilities
We are looking for well-rounded technicians who can "plug and play" into professional environments. While you may specialize in one area, a working knowledge of the following is preferred:
Audiovisual Technician (ESR-AV)
Audio Engineering
Console Proficiency: Hands-on experience with Allen + Heath (SQ, QU, and CQ series).
Mixing Mastery: Ability to provide clean, professional mixes for corporate panels, podium presenters, and live musical ensembles.
RF Management: Confidence in managing Shure wireless systems, including frequency coordination and signal stability in crowded RF environments.
Video + Digital Media
Switching: Familiarity with Roland video switchers and seamless multi-camera transitions.
Signal Flow: Knowledgeable in signal conversion (SDI/HDMI/NDI) and troubleshooting EDID issues.
Livestreaming: Prior experience managing encoders and platforms for high-stakes broadcast delivery.
Lighting Design + Tech
Control Environments: Familiarity with High End Systems (Hog) and ETC consoles.
Execution: Ability to interpret an Event Designer+rsquo;s plot and faithfully execute specific "looks," including fixture addressing and basic programming.
Power + Infrastructure
Distribution: Practical experience with various forms of power distribution (Distros, break-outs, and cable management) ensuring load balancing and safety compliance.
Portable Power: Ability to utilize and balance generators and battery systems where needed to support temporary power needs.
Scenic, Decor + Environmental Design Specialist (ESR-DP)
We believe that every detail matters. Our Scenic team ensures that our custom builds and rental inventory look "opening night" ready, every time. We are looking for individuals with a "maker" mindset and an eye for aesthetic perfection.
Surface Finishing + Touch-Ups: * Ability to perform high-quality paint touch-ups and repairs on furniture, bars, and backdrops.
Proficiency in color matching and using various finishes (matte, gloss, metallic) to mask transit wear and tear.
Vinyl Application + Graphics: * Experience with large-format vinyl installation, including dance floor wraps, bar fronts, and acrylic signage.
Skill in "weeding," precise alignment, and bubble-free application using squeegees and heat guns.
Scenic Painting: * Knowledge of basic scenic painting techniques (e.g., distressing, faux finishes, or uniform rolling) to maintain the "look" designed for the event.
Woodworking + Fabrication: * Comfortable using basic power tools (miter saws, drills, brad nailers) for on-site repairs or assembly of custom scenic elements.
Ability to read basic shop drawings or assembly instructions for modular furniture and stage sets.
Fabric + Soft Goods: * Familiarity with pipe-and-drape systems, fabric steaming, and tensioning fabric backdrops to ensure a wrinkle-free presentation.
Detail-Oriented Maintenance: * A "white glove" approach to furniture placement, ensuring all pieces are leveled, cleaned, and positioned exactly according to the floor plan.

The "Pro" Skillset: Industry Knowledge
Beyond the gear, we value technicians who understand the "Art of the Event." Successful candidates will demonstrate:
Corporate Etiquette: Understanding the nuances of working in high-end venues and interacting with corporate stakeholders.
Rapid Troubleshooting: The ability to stay calm under pressure and find creative solutions when technical challenges arise mid-show.
Safety Standards: Adherence to OSHA standards, including proper lifting techniques, ladder safety, and secure rigging practices.
Efficient Load-In/Out: A proactive "hustle" mentality to ensure strikes are organized, gear is protected, and venues are left in pristine condition.

Why Join the Events by Design ESR Team?
W2 Protections: Enjoy the peace of mind that comes with W2 status, including employer-paid payroll taxes and workers' compensation coverage.
Bi-Weekly Pay: Unlike 1099 freelancing, we promise bi-weekly compensation that you can depend on- on time in your bank account each payday.
Total Autonomy: No "on-call" stress. If you don+rsquo;t claim the shift, you don+rsquo;t work. It+rsquo;s that simple.
Premium Gear: Work with the latest technology in the A/V world on diverse, high-budget projects.
Networking: Work alongside some of the best designers and leads in the industry.
