POSITION SUMMARY
The Wardrobe Supervisor reports to the Costume Shop Manager and functions as a member of the production department team at Marin Theatre. This position is responsible for creating show wardrobe paperwork, wardrobe operations during technical rehearsals and performances, and upkeeping wardrobe stock and equipment, and workspaces throughout the 2026-2027 Season. They will also act as direct supervisor for all Wardrobe related overhire as necessary.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:


Collaborate with the Costume Shop Manager and other members of the Production staff to assess and plan for maintenance and upkeep of costume and wardrobe equipment owned or utilized by Marin Theatre.
Ensure dressing rooms are clean, organized, and ready for actors prior to first technical rehearsal
Relay wardrobe-related notes to the Stage Manager and/or Costume Shop Manager prior to evening technical notes sessions.
Act as primary wardrobe crew for productions as required, including prepping costumes for use, assisting actors into costumes, wigs, hair and makeup, performing quick changes, etc.
Collaborate with Costume Designer, Costume Shop Manager, and stage management to create necessary wardrobe paperwork including, but not limited to: costume plot, run sheets, preset lists, piece lists, and dressing room signage.
When additional wardrobe crew are required for a production, supervise those crew members, including assigning schedules, providing training as necessary, and ensuring that they comply with rules regarding work safety and breaks.
Perform or supervise daily costume maintenance, including laundry, pressing/steaming, repairs, wig blocking/unblocking, and restocking supplies. Coordinate weekly dry cleaning and ensure costumes remain performance-ready throughout the run.
Support actor+rsquo;s dressing needs during rehearsals and performances.
In collaboration with the Costume Shop Manager, strike all costume-related elements following close of productions, including facilitating return of unused costumes in a timely manner to ensure full refunds when possible, cleaning and preparing costume pieces for storage, disposal, or donation, and cleaning/organizing dressing rooms and costume shop.
Maintain a clean and safe workspace in the green room, dressing rooms, and storage areas.
Support the production needs of other departments of Marin Theatre as needed, either personally or by helping to identify overhire specialists to fulfill the work.
Foster communication with all other production areas and other Marin Theatre Departments.
Participate in achieving the artistic goals, ensuring quality and consistency, and maintaining the highest production values for Marin Theatre. 
Assist the Costume Shop Manager in establishing and maintaining safe and humane departmental standards and procedures, including enforcing required breaks and safe working practices for all overhire crew members.
Consult and collaborate on technical aspects of capital improvements when required.
Participate in Marin Theatre+rsquo;s ongoing anti-racism and DEI initiatives.
Other tasks and duties that are not included here may be requested.

PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, TRAINING, AND ABILITIES
Marin Theatre is committed to building a team of individuals with considerable talent, passion for the theatre, and a collaborative nature. While some training is expected for any new position, ideally the person in this role will possess or be able to develop the following skills and experience:

An appropriate level of training and/or experience that would prepare them to manage multiple projects and crews.
Beginning to advanced costume construction skills, including sewing, patterning, dyeing, distressing, craft work, and fittings.
Intermediate to advanced costume maintenance skills, including laundering, dry cleaning, and repairs.
Familiarity with hair and makeup practices, including wig maintenance, hair and makeup products, and specialty makeups.
Experience running wardrobe for shows, including planning and executing quick changes.
Ability to train others in basic skills required.
Ability to read, edit, and create costume documentation and wardrobe run paperwork.
Ability to create schedules and meet deadlines.
Ability to manage expenditures and budgets.
Ability to prioritize goals and implement plans.
Ability to solve problems and resolve conflict.
Ability to work well under pressure.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
