Pay
$17 an hour with a 40-hour work week at $680.00 per week
POSITION DESCRIPTION
- Work as assigned in props, scenic, lights, sound departments in both the Cabot Theatre, Studio Theatre and/or any other shop/construction spaces used for Skylight Music Theatre+rsquo;s productions.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist, as assigned, with props construction and maintenance, lighting work calls, audio work calls, scenic builds/installs as needed, and studio theatre work calls.
- Be prepared to shift between different departments as needed, adapting to various technical requirements throughout the production.
- Assist in maintaining the Stewart Street warehouse and other stock
- Attend all appropriate meetings as necessary, including but not limited to feasibility, production, notes, department, and staff meetings as requested.
- Assist, as needed, in inventorying properties at Stewart Street warehouse and other Skylight stock.
- Other duties as assigned by the Director of Production and Facilities.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- A BA or BFA in theatre or comparable professional experience.
- Working knowledge of a variety of construction methods, materials and techniques including wood, fabric, metal, and plastics.
- Comprehensive training in the safe operation of stationery and portable power tools, hand tools, stage rigging and equipment.
- Computer proficiency as it relates to technical theatre.
- Familiarity with Vectorworks is a plus
- Basic knowledge of Lighting and Sound
- Ability/willingness to collaborate and work as a team member, while maintaining a positive attitude with a diverse staff through strong verbal and written communication and organizational skills.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be able to lift 75lbs, and able to climb and work from ladders.
- Must have the vision, hearing, and dexterity to safely operate in a construction environment, operate hand and power tools, stage rigging and fine detailing work if necessary.
- This position has irregular hours with regular night and weekend responsibilities.
PAY AND BENEFITS
- Pay: $17 an hour with a 40-hour work week at $680.00 non-overtime-exempt
