Rotation Theatre Company is looking for a dedicated, proactive, collaborative, and organized Stage Manager for their upcoming summer production of Shakespeare+rsquo;s Much Ado About Nothing +ndash; with the possibility of joining the company for the +lsquo;26-27 season.
The Stage Manager will work closely with the executive board, producers, directors, designers, performers, and production staff. They will ensure rehearsals and performances run smoothly from pre-production through closing night/strike.
General Responsibilities:
The Stage Manager is responsible for an array of tasks related to the practical and organizational support of the production team and cast throughout the production process, including but not limited to:
- Maintaining rehearsal schedules and weekly/daily call sheets
- Running rehearsals and take detailed production notes
- Tracking blocking, cues, props/costumes, and other technical needs
- Coordinating communication between cast, creative team, and production staff
- Assisting with backstage organization and overall production flow
- Helping to maintain a positive, professional, and collaborative rehearsal environment
- Calling cues during performances
- Report to the PSM (when applicable)
Qualifications:
More than anything, if you are committed to the craft and willing to learn, we can teach you what you need to know. But these attributes are huge plusses:
- Previous stage management (or assistant stage management) experience preferred
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Ability to multitask and adapt +ndash; our mantra is +ldquo;deal creatively with change+rdquo;
- Solutions-oriented and calm under pressure
- Operate with an +ldquo;assume the best+rdquo; mindset
- Passion for independent theatre and innovative storytelling
Details:
Position Type: Non-union, deferred pay
Schedule: Mon-Thurs rehearsals, Fri/Sat/Sun performances
Location: East LA rehearsals, NoHo performances
Production dates and compensation will be discussed during the interview process
