Description:

This full-time apprenticeship offers the opportunity to gain experience in individual giving for higher education and the performing arts. Reporting to the Senior Director of Principal and Major Gifts, ideal candidates possess a passion for the performing arts, strong interest in nonprofit fundraising, and are effective communicators, detail-oriented, and eager to learn.

This is a hybrid position with work both in-person and remote. The schedule is typically Monday +ndash; Friday, 9am +ndash; 5pm, and may vary depending on evening and weekend event staffing needs. Campus presence is expected as per the schedule determined with the supervisor.

The salary is $18.50per hour (40 hours per week for 40 weeks) or a contracted amount of $29,600 for the school year.


About our Development Team: The Principal and Major Gifts team is highly collaborative and consists of five people as part of the larger Development team.

About the Professional Apprentice Program: This program provides immersive training for emerging performing arts technicians and administrators, addressing the need for practical training in the field. For over four decades, it has prepared recent graduates, early-career professionals, and individuals undergoing career transitions for employment in the cultural sector. This is achieved through hands-on experience, professional development, and networking and mentorship opportunities.

Role Responsibilities:

In support of gift officers, compile information for reports and proposals and assist in the editing and routing process.
Prepare donor pledge reminders, donation forms, and new scholarship forms for major gifts team as needed.
Conduct basic prospect research and prepare donor briefings for meetings and outreach.
Facilitate planning and execution of on and off campus donor meetings and events.
Act as initial point of contact for donor and prospect inquiries.
Manage thank you note drafts and requests for president and department leaders.
Communicate effectively with numerous departments across the school to gather and share information.
Provide regular administrative and project support in service of donor engagement and fundraising initiatives.
Support the Development team+rsquo;s use of the Raiser+rsquo;s Edge database by assisting gift officers in data entry.


Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor+rsquo;s Degree, or related professional experience and transferable skills, or a combination of both.
Strong written and verbal communication skills with an eye for detail.
Strong organizational skills.
Demonstrated curiosity and initiative in learning new skills
Strong attention to detail, ability to multi-task, and time-management skills.
Excellent interpersonal communication skills and professional demeanor, particularly in dealing with donors.
Ability to work with confidential information and diverse populations.
Effective team member who can demonstrate a collaborative approach when working with colleagues.
Knowledge in the use of Zoom, MS Word, Teams, Excel, and Outlook.


Preferred Background:

Background in or knowledge of the performing arts (music, dance, and/or drama).
Background in or knowledge of fundraising.
