Overview
The Sound Supervisor oversees the day-to-day operations of the Sound department including consulting with the designer as to feasibility of their design, planning and executing the load in and out for PST productions and rentals, supervising Sound crews, maintaining PST+rsquo;s Sound equipment inventory and paperwork, and troubleshooting issues with the Sound system across both our Proscenium and Thrust spaces.
Description
Primary Responsibilities:
Reviews the sound system design with the designer to determine feasibility of the design and recommends changes to bring design into scope
Coordinate with other departments; workload, scheduling and technical execution.
Prepares speaker plot for load in including planning cable runs and signal flow, and creating paperwork for install and run crews
Estimate labor + equipment costs for main stage productions and rental events.
Maintains and organizes Sound equipment and systems including making basic repairs and troubleshooting issues
Makes timely updates to paperwork to ensure documentation and inventories accurately reflect PST equipment and systems configurations
Balance inventory needs across both theater spaces, as well as between Park Square main stage productions and external rentals.
Install and program Sound equipment per the designer+rsquo;s specifications along with overhire crew
Supervises Sound crews to ensure that equipment is installed safely
Assists lighting in setting up and strikes tables for technical rehearsals and previews
Setting up and managing: Intercom, paging, monitoring infrastructure systems
Attending production meetings,load in and Tech Rehearsals as necessary.
Attend bi-weekly department meetings.
Physical requirements
Must be able to lift and carry equipment sometimes in excess of 50 pounds
Must be able to and comfortable with climbing and working on ladders and scaffolding
Must be able to reach and work with hands over head for extended periods
Must be able to work standing, sitting, kneeling, lying down and in tight spaces
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Skill in the operation and maintenance of multi-output theater sound systems.
Skill in the use and maintenance of hand tools and power tools.

QLab 5, macOS
Sound system signal flow
System + equipment operation and upkeep (Prefered)
QSys DSP
TheatreMix
IP networking
Basic low-voltage electrical knowledge + soldering
Ability to effectively communicate.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Technical Theater AND,
Two years directly related experience; OR,
Any equivalent combination of experience, training and/or education.
Schedule:
This is a part-time position with variable hours based on the needs of each production
The Sound Supervisor frequently works evening and weekend hours
Please note that Park Square Theatre signed an interim agreement with IATSE Local 13 on February 2nd, 2026 and is in the process of negotiating a Complete collective bargaining agreement. While nothing is finalized at this point, this position will be included in the bargaining unit.
