Direct Supervisor: Artistic Director

Lead the development and implementation of programming, and contribute to the vision and goals, for the School of Performing Arts and Youth Theatre in alignment with Duluth Playhouse+rsquo;s mission to educate, entertain, and engage the region.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Propose, consult, and receive approval from the Artistic Director on the vision, goals, and planned activities of the School of Performing Arts and Duluth Playhouse Youth Theatre, maintaining the highest artistic quality and integrity for the program.
Assist the Artistic Director with season selection for Duluth Playhouse Youth Theatre.
Assist the Artistic Director with recruiting guest directors/choreographers for Duluth Playhouse Youth Theatre.
Attend and facilitate all Youth Theatre auditions for Duluth Playhouse productions and assist with casting.
Provide artistic leadership within the Youth Theatre program by directing productions and/or teaching classes as needed, based on program priorities.
Assist guest directors throughout the design and rehearsal process while providing key leadership during technical rehearsals and production meetings to ensure quality results with Duluth Playhouse Youth Theatre.
Create audition packets; ensure scripts are available; schedule audition dates; ensure audition information has been forwarded for database and email blasts.
Develop new education and outreach programs that further the Playhouse's mission.
Provide a safe and caring environment that fosters well-being and promotes respectful and responsible behavior from youth.
Recruit, hire, and facilitate the training of teaching staff each semester.
Assist teaching artists to ensure quality results with Duluth Playhouse School of Performing Arts.
Collaborate with the Marketing Director on promoting the Youth Theatre and Education Program.
Cultivate supportive relations with schools and other cultural organizations.
Collaborate with the Executive Director and Managing Director on the annual education budget; manage the department within budgetary goals.
Partner with the Executive Director and Director of Development to support fundraising efforts for the Education Program, including identifying program needs, contributing to funding opportunities, and serving as a liaison to families and community members with philanthropic potential. Represent the Education Program in fundraising-related events and engagements as appropriate.

Collaborate with leadership on grant-funded Education Program initiatives by facilitating program activities and maintaining accurate data (participants, staffing, and outcomes) to support reporting and compliance.
Act as the organization+rsquo;s representative in rehearsal and classroom settings, ensuring consistent implementation of policies and procedures and serving as a primary point of communication between leadership, contract artists, students, and families.
Serve as community spokesperson for Duluth Playhouse Youth Theatre and Education Program.
Other duties as assigned.
Experience and Skills:

Ability to lead and motivate a diverse team of educators and artists.
Ability to speak effectively and inspire groups of students, teachers, and parents.
A demonstrated passion for the performing arts and theatre education
Bachelor's degree in Theatre or a related performing arts or education field, or equivalent professional experience
Compensation:

Annual salary of $50,000 per year
80% employer paid health coverage
10 vacation days, plus Holidays and Earned Sick and Safe Time (ESST)
Employer contributed to a SIMPLE IRA when eligible
Complimentary tickets to all Playhouse productions
