The Phoenix Theatre Company, a LOA LORT Theatre and Arizona+rsquo;s largest Professional Regional Theatre, seeks a Full Time Castin Director. This is a full-time, year-round position.

Located in the heart of the Central Arts District, our beautiful campus includes three theaters, a restaurant and bar, rehearsal halls, administrative offices, and production shops, all on site. We produce a wide range of theatre, from full scale musicals to comedies, dramas and original new work. Our community service programs have gained national attention. With a $17+ million annual operating budget, and celebrating our 107th Season, we offer 10-12 diverse productions every season as well as a growing Festival of New American Theatre.
Job Summary
The Casting Director is responsible for the execution, budget control, confidentiality, safety, ethics and integrity of all Phoenix Theatre Production products as related to the scouting, auditioning and hiring of performing artists. The Casting Director provides consultation and advice on current industry practices in the Auditions and Casting field through analysis of current in-house practices, analysis of market trends and analysis of future technologies and future market practices.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Casting
Directly work with Creative Teams of shows on casting decisions making sure to represent TPTC interests as well as keep track of understudy tracking with creative teams per show.
Learn, practice and execute all casting hiring practices within negotiating and contracting as per agreement with League of Regional Theatre designation (TPTC is a referencing LORT LOA) and the Actors Equity Association (AEA).
Develop and grow national identity of TPTC with the strengthening of national talent agencies and manages relationships with TPTC.
Upon completion of casting, prepare any/all paperwork needed for physical/digital signature by artists including gathering and submission of private information for payroll and Human Resources (this includes any/all updates to AEA and non-union Letter of Acceptance and Letters of Intent (LOA+rsquo;s and LOI+rsquo;s) as well as any necessary additional Addendums to contracts or special riders).
Submits weekly payroll of Artists on contract and update any information based on weekly contractual hours. This is submitted to the payroll administrator.
Chief communication liaison to all TPTC internal departments in regard to all auditions and casting.
Logistical and administrative
Update and maintain any/all language as it pertains to TPTC auditions and casting practices in any/all internal and external communication keeping with industry best practices and market trends.
Maintain ownership of yearly casting budgets for all TPTC projects requiring casting of artists. This is inclusive of New Works Festival and any private events/one-off gigs etc.
Learn and execute all ethical, BIPOC and inclusive hiring practices adopted by both the TPTC and any market trends within the casting and auditions fields nationally.
Respond to NPS (Net Promoter Score) weekly reports- patron response to shows
Weekly reports on local productions and who we should be aware of and what shows about town are to be recommended.
Scouting and Recruitment
Scouting, sourcing and recruitment of local and national talent for all TPTC auditions and productions.
Attendance and representation for TPTC locally at educational, community and professional theatre company productions around Phoenix and regionally.
The Casting Director will write and submit reports on all productions viewed and assigned by themselves or Producing Artistic Director.
Auditions and Callbacks
Critically analyze and execute season and per-show casting needs and communicate/advise directly to Producing Artistic Director local/national pool of talent possibilities.
Coordinate all General (Local) and National auditions for all TPTC productions with help from Associate Production Manager and Company Manager. This is including the booking of national callback staffing (accompanist, choreographer etc+hellip;) and housing/transportation as well as efficiently utilize national audition posting and resources for local and national submission requests for artist consideration (i.e. Playbill, Backstage, Breakdown Express and Actor+rsquo;s Access)
Qualifications
General understanding of all aspects related to producing theatre.
Extensive knowledge of all AEA rules and regulations. Any questions about AEA would be answered by Managing Director.
Proficient in negotiations pertaining to Artists, Agents, and management companies
Thorough knowledge of national artist posting sites (Playbill, AEA, Backstage) and casting director digital tool kits (Breakdown Express)
Knowledge of Licensing Companies of production projects
Ability to manage large and diverse groups and work in stressful conditions.
Extensive knowledge of ADOBE, MS OFFICE and OUTLOOK as well as teleconferencing software ZOOM and MS TEAMS.
Organizational management, multi-tasking, and time management skills
Must possess an energetic, creative, discreet and positive work attitude
Must be able to work well in teams as well as independently
Superior attention to detail is imperative
Must be able to function in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities
Must adhere to confidentiality of any and all conversations associated with the casting process.
Bachelor+rsquo;s degree in Theatre or Business or closely related field OR equivalent professional experience.

Intense work environment
Must be willing to travel regionally and nationally
Any outside jobs may not create a conflict of interest and must be approved by Producing Artistic Director.
