SUMMARY:
North Shore Music Theatre, a 1500 seat arena style theater, is seeking an Assistant Lighting Lead/Programmer for the upcoming 2026 season.

Reports to (Position): Lighting Lead and Production Management
Start Date: Immediate availability to start for training with current lighting team
Category: Hourly - Union (Do not need to be union to apply)
Primary Responsibilities:
Assist the Lighting Lead with day-to-day operations
Work with designers and the Artistic teams for each production to realize their vision
Perform as an electrician for load-ins, changeovers, focus calls, strikes, notes calls, and maintenance calls
Show preparation which includes preparing required equipment, organization of color, templates, and other consumables as well as the wiring of practicals and effects
Maintenance/repair of lighting department equipment and facilities as assigned: including (but not limited to) theatrical lighting instrumentation, practical electrical properties, backstage running lights, chemical foggers, effects devices, cue lights, and tech tables
Program and run of the lighting console for all technical, dress and brush-up rehearsals, note sessions, and performances as assigned
Run shows as a show electrician, followspot operator, light board operator or deck electrician as needed
Attend run-throughs, backstage prep, technical rehearsals, performances, load ins, and strikes as scheduled
Perform daily dimmer/focus checks to maintain the lighting design during the run of the show- correcting any focus problems, changing lamps or burned gel as needed
Assist with running all phases of installation and programming
Assist with the organization/installation/build/safety of all electrical practicals and effects ie: Pixel Tape, LED Tape, LED lighting, incandescent lighting, and smoke/haze effects
Oversee the execution of lighting plots, hang, and focus
Coordinate with other departments regarding safety lighting and location of LX equipment and effects
Assist with maintaining budgets
Participate in NSMT events as needed and required
Promote a collaborative, inclusive, positive and respectful working environment
Continuing knowledge of new lighting equipment/trends
Safety and Compliance:
Adhere to all NSMT safety protocols and procedures
Workplace safety including best practices in electrical safety, theatrical rigging, and working at height
Expected Qualifications:
Superior knowledge and experience with ETC Eos Consoles and accessories
Experience with programming, rigging, hazers, foggers, theatrical effects, LED tape, intelligent lighting fixtures, practicals, and standard theatrical practices
Aptitude for creative technical and artistic problem solving
Familiar with Vectorworks, Lightwright and Microsoft Office
Excellent organizational, interpersonal, time management, multi-tasking, problem solving, and communication skills
Experience working in a fast-paced, energized, and quickly changing environment
Able to work independently and as a team player
Detail oriented and able to prioritize efficiently
Ability to safely work on a catwalk and ladders at heights of up to 25 feet.
Housing and travel is not provided for this position.
