Position Summary
A member of the backstage crew and reporting to the Sound Supervisor, the A1 Cover will learn the A1 - Board Operator track, including but not limited to preparing and executing all backstage and onstage sound needs, starting up and checking the sound system, assisting with Clear Comm when needed, shutting down the sound system after performances, and serving as the sound board operator during the performance of the LTC production of Untitled Vampire Play for select performances.
The A1 Cover will be an enthusiastic, detail-oriented, and reliable member of the backstage team. They will work closely with actors, crew, and production staff to ensure the
safe, smooth, and consistent running of all performances and to shepherd a production process that is focused on supportive, sustainable, and anti-racist practices.
The A1 Cover will be provided with a minimum of two training shifts prior to running a full track before an audience unaided. They will also be provided with all the necessary paperwork and training on specialty items required for the track.
The A1 Cover will be scheduled for 2 shows a week from June 4th, 2026 +ndash; July 26th, 2026. They will be called for a minimum of three Tech rehearsals beginning the week prior, May 26th, 2026.
Duties
Execute the Sound Board Operator track for a select number of performances each week.
Remain on call for each performance the A1 - Board Operator is scheduled to mix, up to one hour before the call time listed each day.
Complete all daily start up and shut down procedures for the sound system, including the Yamaha M7CL, clear-com, and on-stage equipment.
Communicate any and all sound notes to the Sound Supervisor.
Maintain a clean and orderly booth and board area.
Adhere to and participate in implementation of Lookingglass COVID protocols.
Participate in organization-wide anti-racism work and incorporate an anti-racist lens into daily practice. Required Qualifications
Demonstrated sound experience of at least 1 year at collegiate or professional level.
Ability to ascend and descend stairs repeatedly.
Ability to move and transport up to 50 pounds by yourself or with additional help.
Intermediate sound system troubleshooting skills, including but not limited to cabling, equipment failure, clear-comm, MIDI, signal flow, Dante Networking and RF coordination.
Ability to prioritize and offer a high degree of communication and support under dynamic and emergent conditions.

Compensation
Hourly rate: $23.25, paid weekly
This position will be guaranteed to operate two shows per week. The schedule of which shows will be determined in conjunction with the Sound Supervisor and A1 for the production. As this is a cover position, there will be a need to remain on call for each show until 1 hour before each performance.
This position has a weekly 15-hour minimum pay guarantee so long as all assigned shifts within the week are completed as scheduled. Each scheduled call will be a four hour minimum.
