Wage: $18.00-$20.00 per hour
The position
IRT+rsquo;s scene shop is looking for a skilled Carpenter to help build the worlds of our
productions. You+rsquo;ll work in a busy shop alongside an experienced team, building,
installing, and striking scenery for six productions a year on two stages. This is a
hands-on, craft-focused role in a professional theatre housed in one of downtown
Indianapolis+rsquo;s most beloved buildings.
The season runs from August through April,
with repertoire ranging from world premieres to classics.
What you+rsquo;ll do
+bull; Build, install, and strike scenery for all IRT productions, including special
projects
+bull; Work from designer and construction drawings, using woodworking and
metalworking tools (including welders) and finish carpentry techniques like
molding and trim
+bull; Help with theatrical rigging, following best practices for rigging safety
+bull; Help locate, order, and pick up materials and equipment for the shop
+bull; Help keep the Scene Shop, Paint Shop, and performance spaces safe, clean,
and organized
+bull; Cover run crew in a pinch, and pick up other projects as they come up
What we+rsquo;re looking for
+bull; 2+ndash;4 years of experience with scenery construction and woodworking tools
+bull; Experience with finish carpentry, including molding and trim
+bull; Comfort with metalworking tools, including welders
+bull; Familiarity with theatrical rigging and rigging safety best practices
+bull; Ability to read designer and construction drawings
+bull; A collaborative, positive approach to working in a build environment with
other members of the team and overhire.
+bull; Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends as production schedules
require
This is a physically active role. You+rsquo;ll be on your feet for much of the day, operating
power tools, lifting up to 50 lbs, climbing ladders and personnel lifts, occasionally
working in confined spaces or in darkened performance spaces, and stooping,
kneeling, or crouching as the work requires. We will make reasonable

The Indiana Repertory Theatre is Indiana's flagship LORT theatre, founded in 1972
and located in the historic Indiana Theatre building in downtown Indianapolis. We
produce nine productions annually across three stages, with repertoire spanning
