Child Coordinator - A Christmas Carol - Orlando Shakespeare Theater
Orlando Shakespeare Theater is searching for a Child Coordinator for our production of A Christmas Carol (November 3, 2026 through December 24, 2026).

Position Description
The Child Coordinator is responsible for supervising, managing, and supporting child performers throughout the rehearsal and performance process of A Christmas Carol. This position ensures the safety, well-being, and professional development of young actors while maintaining compliance with all applicable child labor laws and theater safety protocols.

Responsibilities include:
- Supervise child actors during all rehearsals, tech rehearsals, and performances
- Coordinate schedules and communicate with parents/guardians regarding rehearsal calls, costume fittings, and performance requirements
- Ensure compliance with child labor laws, union regulations, and theater safety policies
- Facilitate educational activities and homework time during long rehearsal periods
- Assist with costume changes and backstage management specific to child performers
- Monitor children's energy levels, behavior, and overall well-being during productions
- Coordinate with stage management, directors, and other production staff regarding child actor needs
- Maintain accurate records of child actor hours, breaks, and attendance
- Serve as primary liaison between production staff and parents/guardians
- Provide age-appropriate guidance and mentorship to young performers
- Ensure proper supervision during all backstage activities and scene transitions
- Coordinate meal breaks and snack times for child performers
- Assist with organizing and maintaining child-specific areas backstage
- Help create a positive, educational, and supportive environment for young artists

Requirements include:
- Previous experience working with children in educational, recreational, or theatrical settings preferred
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to maintain authority while being supportive and encouraging with children
- Knowledge of child development and age-appropriate behavior management techniques
- Professional demeanor and positive attitude when working with children and parents
- Ability to multitask effectively while prioritizing child safety and well-being
- Clear written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite and Google Applications
- Candidate must be able to lift 50 pounds, and push/pull up to 100 pounds
- Standing for extended periods of time may be required
- Must be available for ALL rehearsals and performances
- Evening and weekend availability required

Production Schedule:
- First Rehearsal: Tuesday, November 3, 2026
- Tech Rehearsals: November 19-24, 2026
- Preview 1: Wednesday, November 25, 2026
- Opening Night: Friday, November 27, 2026
- Closing: Thursday, December 24, 2026

Compensation
Salary: $18.00 per hour - Housing and transportation is not provided. Must be available for all rehearsals and performances. Nights and weekends required.
