Full Time Tech Director

Pay: Salaried rate depending on experience
Salary range $48k to $55k

Seeking a full time Technical Director for the Henegar Center for the Arts in downtown Melbourne, Florida to help us create and execute our Mainstage musical productions, student productions, Blackbox series, and special events. This full time salaried position may start as early as June 1, 2026. Paid vacation/PTO, Simple IRA contribution plan available after time accrued, health insurance assistance. Salaried hours are 40+ hours/week, flexible with potential late nights and weekends during technical rehearsals

List of Basic Responsibilities:
The Technical Director is the resident technical expert that creates, maintains, and supervises the various
technical elements of the Production. Including but not limited to lighting, sound, projections, equipment
maintenance, scenic construction, fly and rigging, Mechanical or moving elements such as water, flammables,
pyro, and special effects. Partner with Production Manager + Shop Foreman to set and maintain Production build and
Technical schedule. Ultimately responsible for ensuring that all Technical aspects of the production are
completed within budget and on time, according to the Designer's and Director's vision.
Responsibilities may include but not limited to:
Strong communication and problem solving skills
+bull; Keep a complete Show Technical binder for each Production. Organizing and updating our
shared Dropbox/Drive Technical folder.
+bull; Responsible for ordering ongoing basic tech needs and keeping an appropriate stock par per of tech items.
+bull; Organize, clean and set up of Stage, Wings, Scenic shop, Tech lofts and closets, Tech booth and production and equipment storage areas.
+bull; Keep an updated inventory of existing lights, lighting equipment, sound equipment, fly and rigging materials. Regularly test and maintenance equipment, facilitate sending out for fixes. Keep a growing list of shelf life and replacement needs.
+bull; Make recommendations to the Executive Director
what future Tech equipment is needed. Research and make educated choices to keep up with the changing industry. Research new tech equipment for future advancement.
+bull; Provide Leadership to the Technical Intern. Deliver daily tasks and monitor work progress.
+bull; Complete safety checks throughout build, set up and execution. Complete incident or accident reports in a timely manner.
+bull; Responsible for recruiting, assigning and retaining Tech Team and Run Crew for each performance. Maintain Tech contact list and assemble Tech Crew.
+bull; Work with Shop Foreman to make, communicate and be fully responsible for each shows STRIKE plan.
+bull; Maintain a safe work environment. Keeping all areas of the Theatre free and clear of hazard.
Additional skills beyond Primary Role. The Tech Director may act as the resident designer and have expertise in one or more of these disciplines. Tech Director will act as the primary liaison with other contracted lighting/sound designers if the Tech Director is not filling that primary role:
+bull; Lighting Design and programming our productions. Familiar with Grand-MA board, zacktrack follow light system.
+bull; Sound Design and Sound Board Opt for our productions.
+bull; Projections, projection mapping, building video and audio capabilities. Graphic designing for show related needs.
- Fly rigging/hanging and balancing
- Assist ,with build team, construction, carpentry, paint etc.
+bull; Create/Develop and facilitate Tech Camp for aspiring new Tech students.
+bull; Assist as needed as a Technical back up during the run of the show.
