Located in Hartford, CT, The Greater Hartford Academy of the Arts - Half Day, seeks a Costume Designer/Artist Instructor.

Primary responsibilities include: classroom and lab instruction for high school students in theater design and production as well as production support for Arts Academy Theater, Musical Theater, and Dance productions.

The Costume Designer designs, budgets and manages the construction of costumes for Arts Academy theater productions; manages the Academy costume shop, oversees costume production over-hires, and fills in as costume shop personnel as needed (draper, stitcher, crafts, etc.). Other duties include management of student crew technical assignments for the school.

This is a full-time, ten-month, salaried position with benefits. Position starts August 2026 for the 2026-2027 school year.

Qualifications: B.A. / B.F.A. is required with preference given to applicants with professional credentials in costume design, costume construction/crafts, hair and makeup in the professional or educational theater setting. Experience teaching and/or working with high school students is desirable. Applicants should have a current valid driver's license. Formal State of Connecticut teaching certification is not a requirement for this position. Eligibility for a Connecticut State Department of Education Adjunct Arts Instructor Permit is required.
