ob Summary:
The Touring Production Stage Manager (PSM) is responsible for the day-to-day stage management and on-site execution of the touring production VELVETEEN, A New Musical. This position serves as the primary technical lead for the touring company and ensures the consistent artistic, technical, and operational execution of the production across multiple venues. Working in collaboration with the Director of Production, touring production staff, artistic leadership, and local venue personnel, the Touring PSM advances, supervises, and coordinates all stage management activities from auditions, rehearsal through final load-out while upholding Playhouse Square+rsquo;s standards for safety, professionalism, and excellence in audience experience.
Areas of Direct Responsibility:
Advance all stage management and performance-related aspects of the touring production.
Serve as the primary on-site technical liaison between the touring company and presenting venues,
Review venue information, technical specifications, schedules, and local procedures to ensure smooth load-ins, performances, and load-outs.
Troubleshoot technical and logistical issues Day of Show (DOS)
Adapt staging and backstage operations for a variety of performance environments, including theaters, schools, and non-traditional venues.
Call all performances, managing lighting, sound, and staging cues with precision.
Drive 16+rsquo; Box truck with production elements.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Production Stage Management Responsibilities for Auditions
Prep audition materials
Work with Playhouse Square+rsquo;s Education department and Director to check in and manage casting.
Assist with Call Backs
Organize and manage rehearsals, technical rehearsals, performances, and touring schedules.
Monitor expenditures throughout all phases of production to ensure alignment with approved budgets and financial expectations.
Generate weekly estimates based on initial tech schedules with all expenses incurred.
Maintain accurate, real-time expense tracking systems and communicate variances or overages proactively to leadership and department heads.
Production Stage Management Responsibilities for Rehearsals and Tour
Organize and manage rehearsals, technical rehearsals, performances, and touring schedules.
Maintain and execute the prompt book, including blocking, cues, scene shifts, and technical documentation.
Lead backstage operations during load in, performance and load out.
Prepare and distribute daily schedules, performance reports, and production documentation.
Support company morale and maintain a positive, organized, and professional working environment.
Assist with rehearsal planning, tour preparation, and production meetings.

Advancing + Prep week: September 1-6, 2026 (Off Labor Day)
Rehearsals: September 8-26, 2026 at Lorain County Community College in Lorain, Ohio.
Tour dates: Oct 1-December 12, 2026, subject to change (Thanksgiving break at home November 22-26, 2026)
Required Skills/Attributes/Abilities:
Clear and effective verbal and written communication skills.
Strong leadership abilities.
Strong understanding of all major technical production areas (scenic, lighting, audio, props, rigging, A/V) with the ability to read and interpret light plots, ground plans, and technical riders using current software like CAD and Vectorworks.
Experience supervising technical staff and working collaboratively with union labor while maintaining positive morale under pressure.
Excellent problem‑solving skills with the ability to think quickly, resolve conflicts, and adapt in a fast‑paced, unpredictable environment.
Highly organized, with strong accuracy in scheduling, documentation, payroll, billing, and compliance tracking, proficiency with spreadsheets, calendars, project‑management systems, and production tools such as Google Workspace, and Office Suite.
Strong commitment to safety, regulatory compliance, and maintaining a secure working environment.
Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to build and maintain productive relationships with artists, presenters, vendors, and internal departments.
Ability to manage multiple productions and administrative tasks simultaneously while remaining dependable, self‑motivated, and calm under pressure.

Qualifications
Minimum of 3+ndash;5 years of professional stage management experience.
Touring experience strongly preferred.
Valid driver+rsquo;s license required; ability to operate touring vehicles will be required.
Ability to lift and move equipment up to 50 lbs.
Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout performance and backstage areas for extended periods
