Stage Manager - Opera

The NYU/Tisch Opera Lab is a collaboration between Brooklyn contemporary opera producer The American Opera Project (AOP)+nbsp;and NYU's Tisch School of the Arts. Each year in the Lab, emerging opera composers and librettists create brand new short operas centered on an historic New York City location. Over several months, the operas are developed with professional opera singers and then given full productions in the very locations that they were written about.

For this cycle, the twelve 15-minute operas relate to the MTA. There will be four performances In the NYU African Grove Theatre and the MTA Museum.+nbsp;

Job Description-
The stage manager will be one of two working with a team consisting of a PSM and an ASM. Each stage manager covers six of the twelve 15-minute operas.

Qualifications-
Ability to read music [Music reading proficiency]
Experience in opera stage management
Possess strong organizational skills
Experience working in a collaborative environment

Responsibilities-
Responsibilities include managing rehearsals, preparing production paperwork and rehearsal/performance reports, recording blocking and cues, and calling performances.

Schedule-
Rehearsals: 04/27/2026-05/15/2026, 05/19/2026
Performances: 05/16-17/2026, 05/20-21/2026
[Rehearsal/performance calls for assigned six operas.]

Compensation -
Fee: $1250.00
