The Phoenix Theatre Company, Arizona's largest professional regional theatre located in downtown Phoenix, is seeking applications for a Wardrobe Apprentice for the 2026-2027 season.
The Apprentice Program is designed for early-career theatre artists to gain hands-on professional experience while working alongside industry professionals. Apprentices receive practical training across a range of production areas including Scenic, Properties, Costumes, Lighting, Wardrobe, Sound, and Stage Management.
This is a season-long program (approximately 51 weeks) with flexible start and end dates, offering meaningful opportunities for growth within the apprentice's area of focus.
Position Overview
The Wardrobe Apprentice works as a member of the wardrobe team supporting all phases of production, including prep, rehearsals, technical rehearsals, and performances.
Responsibilities include assisting with the creation and maintenance of wardrobe paperwork such as run sheets, preset lists, and laundry schedules. The Wardrobe Apprentice supports rehearsal processes by attending designer runs, tracking timing for entrances and exits, and preparing for wardrobe run assignments.
During performances, the Wardrobe Apprentice runs a wardrobe track, supporting quick changes and maintaining the condition of costumes. Additional duties include assisting with laundry and post-show notes, supporting load-ins and load-outs, and maintaining organized wardrobe stock and workspaces.
The Wardrobe Apprentice collaborates closely with the costume and production teams to ensure the smooth execution of each production.

Basic familiarity with tools, techniques, or practices relevant to the assigned department
Strong problem-solving skills and a willingness to take initiative
Interest in gaining hands-on experience in a professional theatre environment

Work schedules may include:
Daytime shop hours
Evening rehearsals and performances
Weekend performances and work calls
Holiday performances and events
Extended hours during technical rehearsals, load-ins, and strikes
