Position Summary
Barter Theatre seeks a (stage carp) to be a part of the backstage crew in Barter Theatre+rsquo;s Smith Theatre. The Smith Stage Carpenter reports to the technical director and leads the rep crew in changing over the scenery from one show to another. This is a seven-week seasonal contract lasting from 7/6/26 - 8/23/26.

Responsibilities
Leading the rep crew in changing over the scenery between 3 productions in rep
Assist with backstage run crew duties including wardrobe quick changes
Ensuring rep happens safely and within the time parameters
Working with scene shop staff on load-ins + strikes
Driving a 24-foot box truck as part of change overs
Other duties as assigned

Qualification + Experience
Bachelor's degree in technical theater (preferred)
Backstage experience (+3 years)
Problem solving + time management skills
Experience with theatrical rigging
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds, climb ladders, and work in tight and dark backstage spaces
Familiar + able to work with power tools safely
Valid driver's license and ability to drive company vehicles.
