The historic Cape Playhouse in Dennis, MA - the oldest continuously operating summer theater in America- is accepting resumes for a Props Artisan for our 2026 Summer Season which includes Nat Zegree's Mozart to Pop Chart, Into the Woods, Hairspray, Mean Girls, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, and various smaller events throughout the summer.

The rate for this position is $16-18.00/hour commensurate with experience. This is a full time position with opportunity for overtime after 40 hrs in a week.

This contract begins on May 18th and ends on September 6th. There is some flexibility to start and end dates. Housing may be provided.

The Props Artisan reports to the Props Supervisor.

* Assist in all elements of property and set construction.
* Generate and maintain all necessary paperwork including but not limited to production specific props lists, inventory lists, or schedules.
* Attend and aid assigned department during load-ins and strikes.
* Assist the Props Supervisor in finding and obtaining props.
* Assist the Props Supervisor in overseeing apprentices and other relevant staff in a manner that is safe and exemplifies proper usage of shop tools/materials.
* Shop staff are required to wear appropriate work clothing. Open toe shoes are not permitted. Hair reaching the shoulder must be tied back. All safety equipment, Including goggles, gloves, masks, ear plugs, must be worn at all applicable times set forth by the Production Manager and Technical Director.
* All employees are responsible for checking their email daily and communicating directly with their Department Head and production management to report issues with performances or maintenance of the shop.
* Adhere to all safety practices and procedures set forth by Production Management and/or the Technical Director.
