Scenic Carpenter

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

+bull; The construction, maintenance, transportation, and installation of scenery
+bull; Accurately build scenery from technical drawings.
+bull; In coordination with the Technical Director, build and maintain build schedules, break schedules, and delegation of work duties to Volunteers
+bull; Assist Technical Director with load-ins and strikes for all TheaterWorks productions.
+bull; Report all maintenance, tool repairs, and restock needs to Technical Director
+bull; Perform general maintenance of the scene shop and its equipment.
+bull; Present and execute shop improvement projects
+bull; Assist the Technical Director in implementing safe processes and safety procedures for the scene shop
+bull; Assist in the transportation of scenery to and from scene shop.
+bull; Use proper PPE and safety protocols for all tasks.
+bull; Attend all Production Meetings, Technical Rehearsals, Load-in, and Strikes in Technical Director+rsquo;s absence
+bull; Read all rehearsal and performance reports, daily schedules and all calendars. Follow-up on applicable details/notes and communicate information to supervisor and staff as appropriate.
+bull; Maintain all scenic and shop related inventories.
+bull; Other duties as assigned.

Work Schedule:
+bull; Varies: Monday - Friday, with additional hours and days as needed
+bull; Available to work nights and weekends as needed


Education/Experience Requirements:
+bull; The equivalent of a Bachelor's Degree in technical theater arts, dance, music, communications or related field from an accredited college or university
+bull; Three or more years' experience in a scenic shop or similar environment engaged in set design, construction, and prop design/fabrication.
+bull; Proficient with carpentry, rigging, Vortek/Counterweight systems
+bull; Working knowledge of welding, CNC routing, 3D Printing, Laser Printing, upholstery, sewing, and basic scenic painting
+bull; Maintain production quality standards for all shows
+bull; Demonstrate strong time management and work-flow methods
+bull; Fluency in technical language and working understanding of technical software (CAD) and processes
+bull; Strong leadership and communication skills
+bull; Excellent written and oral communication skills with supervisors, peers, and subordinates
+bull; Ability to foster a safe, humane, collaborative, organized, respectful, and energized work environment with a positive attitude and a sense of humor
+bull; Comprehensive knowledge of theater terminology
+bull; Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities and deadlines
+bull; Attentive to detail, accountable and deadline oriented
+bull; Must be highly motivated and a self-starter
+bull; Proficient in Microsoft Office or Google docs/spreadsheets
+bull; Must have a valid driver's license
+bull; Must pass a background check
