As the Props and Furniture Repair Lead (90%):
Repair SVRs inventory - primarily vintage upholstery, but also bars, backdrops, tables, chairs, and decor. Construct exceptional quality builds and repairs; i.e. strong/clean joints and finish work, wiped glue, low profile hardware, and even seal/stain application in the colors used historically at SVR.
Be the in-house person for carpentry-related craft projects that require more attention to detail and a multitude of skills (upholstery, sewing, detailed painting, etc). This includes projects like customized trim, wallpaper, fabric applications, and more.
Monitor damaged items through Slack and weekly warehouse walkthroughs, and track all repairs, progress, and any additional information in Airtable.
Use RW Elephant inventory management software for reviewing upcoming orders for the entire damaged item list on a weekly basis.
Review weekly outgoing inventory list to double check for conflicts and repair planning. Communicate early with the Operations Manager and Inventory + Carpentry Manager to adjust loading schedules as necessary.
Communicate efficiently and often with the Carpentry + Inventory Manager regarding repair progress, brainstorming, potential upcoming conflicts, prioritizing time sensitive repairs, and removing items from inventory where necessary.
Notify the Technical Manager about all supplies needed for the shop and for specific projects with sufficient lead time.
As a Carpentry Team Member (10%):
Be an On-Call Weekend Carpenter at least 1x per month during our busy season (Apr-Jul + Sept-Nov).
Attend weekly Carpentry Team Meetings to discuss ongoing projects, problems, and find solutions.
Use best practices for builds while maintaining a standard for how SVR constructs our pieces (i.e. lightweight, durable, hidden nail holes, consistent wood type + stain, standard mechanisms and hardware, etc).
Provide record of finishes and lumber used on all inventory at completion of builds.
Maintain a clean, walkable, safe and organized workspace at all times, and follow all shop guidelines related to safety. Leave space clean at the end of the day, and deep clean at least 1x a week.
Pick up materials as needed and provide receipts directly to the Inventory + Carpentry Manager.
Create instructions/videos for any difficult installations for our crew as requested.
Assist clients with on-site walkthroughs and safe-use assembly demonstrations needed.
Assist with general warehouse activities, on-site event installations/requirements, and monthly on-call repairs as needed.
Send us an email with a couple sentences about yourself, why you would be a good fit for this role, your resume, and a couple pictures of your work!
