The Associate Production Manager plays a key role in supporting Virginia Rep+rsquo;s season across multiple venues. Reporting to the Production Manager, the APM will collaborate closely with department heads to lead or assist with day-to-day operations and execution of production design for all performance-related programming. This position requires broad knowledge of technical theatre departments, design and build processes, and operating procedures, as well as evening and weekend availability during tech and performance periods.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide support with maintaining facility and production calendars.
Provide support with purchasing, budgeting, and expense tracking.
Provide support with scheduling and facilitating production meetings; attend all design and production meetings and assist with recording and distributing meeting minutes.
Assist in hiring, scheduling, training and supporting overhire, stage managers and technical crew for productions and rentals.
Attend and support technical rehearsals, performances and special events as assigned; facilitate group notes sessions, worklists and communication between design personnel and department heads for accurate completion of notes.
Provide emergency technical support and coverage during performances as required.
Assist production departments team members with daily work as necessary.
Provide Company Management support for all programming, to include coordinating all aspects of housing, travel, transportation and personnel support for out-of-town artists working in residency.
Oversee attendance and payroll reporting for performance companies.
Coordinate and manage share points for creative and design teams.
Support department heads with inventory management systems.
Coordinate site logistics for Theatre Gym residencies, special events and venue rentals.
Assist in developing, evaluating and implementing department policies and procedures.
Participate in the set-up and upkeep of rehearsal, performance and general workspaces in order to maintain an efficient and safe work environment.

Minimum 3 years of professional production experience in technical theatre and production management, including carpentry, electrics, scenic art, props, projection, audio and stage management.
Analytical thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to respond to changing circumstances quickly and with positivity.
Ability to facilitate multiple projects simultaneously, accurately and with attention to detail.
Demonstrated management and leadership skills, and use of discretion with sensitive information.
Strong oral and written communication, organizational and computer skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Suite and Prospero.
Working knowledge of production software including, lighting, sound, projection and drafting software; proficiency reading CAD drafting of ground plans, sections, elevations and plots, and other supporting paperwork.
Ability to work independently and complete tasks as instructed and prioritize workflow in accordance with production calendars.
Valid driver+rsquo;s license with a clean driving record required; ability to drive large vehicles from cargo vans up to 26+rsquo; box trucks a plus.
Ability to troubleshoot, adapt and mentor team members throughout the production process.
Thorough understanding of industry safety and OSHA regulations for live performances, and ability to identify and correct hazards.
Familiarity with union contracts (SDC, USA, AEA).
Ability to participate in event set up and breakdown, including lifting up to 40 pounds alone, extended periods of standing/bending/kneeling/squatting/sitting, working at heights up to 30+rsquo; in lifts and on ladders, working in low light situations and occasional loud environments with audio amplification and power tools in use.

This is a full time, exempt salaried staff position and is eligible for annual and sick leave, participation in company health, life, dental and vision insurance plans, and retirement plan with company match. Commensurate with experience, the annual salary range for this position is $46,000-$49,000. Employment begins on or around 7/1/26.
