The Great River Shakespeare Festival is looking for a Head Electrician for this upcoming repertory season of Pericles and A Midsummer Nights Dream. Must be available from 5/14/2026-6/28/2026 and 7/26/2026-7/30/2026. Housing is included.

The Head Electrician works with The Lighting Designers and Production Manager to implement the repertory lighting plot for the season given the schedule and budget. Post opening, the Head Electrician will have a break in their schedule, before joining for strike at the end of the season.

Job duties include:

- Work with Lighting Designers in the off-season to ensure all designs meet assigned budget and deadline constraints. This includes reviewing preliminary plots to ensure a realistic goal
- Supervise and execute the purchase, rental, storage, maintenance, installation, and set-up of all lighting equipment for mainstage shows
- Create an inventory of all equipment used including rentals and purchased equipment
- Obtain and return rented lighting equipment as needed
- Manage and control all Lighting budgets including the tracking and coding of receipts
- Ensure the Lighting staff are adequately trained and able to complete their duties
- Train all relevant staff in the safe and proper use of lighting equipment and tools
- Work with the Production Manager to monitor and control hours and overtime for the Lighting + Lighting/Sound Apprentice in order to stay within assigned labor budget
- Work with appropriate production teams on any cross departmental lighting needs, creating a feasible plan which allows all teams to work with ease
- Attend all technical rehearsals
- Provide consumables and extra hardware/equipment as needed for mainstage shows
- Work with the Crew Supervisor and other shop heads to create an efficient plan for changeover between mainstage shows
- Mediate small interpersonal issues within the Lighting staff and escalate larger interpersonal issues to the Production Manager
- Work with other departments to move all necessary lighting equipment, tools, and other items related to lighting into the Arts Recreation Center during load-in
- Supervise and implement the striking of all lighting equipment, tools, and other items related to sound at the end of the season, including returning rented and borrowed equipment and tools and storing or disposing of purchased equipment

Qualifications:
This position requires someone who is punctual, able to take direction, work independently, lead others and problem solve.
- At least three years of collegiate or equivalent professional experience in the lighting field
- An experienced electrician
- Experience leading a team is preferred
- Organizational and time management skills
Drivers license is preferred
