Position Overview
We are seeking a part-time skilled and detail-oriented Architectural Lighting Technician to support the installation, focusing, and troubleshooting of high-quality architectural lighting systems. This role is ideal for candidates with a background in theatrical, residential, or commercial lighting who enjoy hands-on technical work and takes pride in precision, craftsmanship, and professionalism on site. This is a part-time, as needed role, working anywhere from 8-24 hours per month.
Role and Responsibilities:
+bull; Install, focus, and adjust a wide variety of architectural lighting fixtures to meet design specifications
+bull; Work extensively on ladders, often for prolonged periods, to position and refine lighting
+bull; Troubleshoot electrical and lighting issues, including making and repairing connections in limited-visibility or tight spaces
+bull; Collaborate with lighting designers, project managers, and other technicians to achieve desired visual outcomes
+bull; Apply knowledge of color theory, beam control, and lighting concepts to optimize lighting quality and consistency
+bull; Ensure all work is performed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with applicable codes and standards
+bull; Maintain a clean, organized, and professional job site
+bull; Interact with clients and other trades in a courteous and professional manner
+bull; Performs other related duties as assigned to support the needs of the department and the organization.
Qualifications and Skill Requirements:
+bull; 2+ndash;3 years of experience in lighting, including theatrical, residential, or commercial lighting design or installation
+bull; Strong comfort level working at height on ladders for extended periods
+bull; Working knowledge of color theory, lighting angles, beam spreads, and general lighting principles
+bull; Ability to follow technical drawings, focus charts, and verbal direction
+bull; Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
+bull; Communicates clearly with all project team members and effectively conveys issues and solutions.
+bull; Professional demeanor and reliable on-site presence
+bull; Proficiency working with basic hand tools
Preferred Skills
+bull; Experience with architectural lighting control systems such as Lutron, Crestron, etc.
+bull; Familiarity with dimming systems, drivers, and low-voltage wiring
+bull; OSHA or other relevant safety certifications
+bull; Basic knowledge of electrical circuitry
Physical Requirements
+bull; Ability to climb ladders, lift lighting equipment, and work overhead for extended periods
+bull; Comfortable working in active construction or installation environments
