Costume Designer / Coordinator

Help bring iconic stories to life through bold, thoughtful costume design.
We are seeking a collaborative and highly organized Costume Designer / Coordinator to lead all costume design and coordination efforts for our productions of Les Mis+eacute;rables, Matilda, and White Christmas. You can submit for individual productions. This position blends creative design leadership with hands-on coordination and production execution, making it ideal for a theatre professional who thrives in fast-paced, artist-driven environments.
Reporting directly to the Producing Director, the Costume Designer / Coordinator works closely with directors, choreographers, and production staff to ensure cohesive storytelling, artistic excellence, and smooth day-to-day costume operations from concept through closing.
Key Responsibilities
Design + Pre-Production
Design and/or coordinate the rental costumes for Les Mis+eacute;rables, Matilda, and White Christmas, developing cohesive visual storytelling aligned with each production+rsquo;s artistic vision.
Create costume renderings, research boards, and production paperwork as needed.
Collaborate closely with Directors, Choreographers, and Production Team to align artistic concepts.
Work within production budgets and schedules while maintaining high design standards.
Oversee costume planning, sourcing, building, fitting, and alterations.
Participate in production meetings and design presentations.
Coordinate costume shop operations in collaboration with the Costume Shop Manager and Wardrobe Supervisor.
Lead fittings, alterations, and styling of performers.
Ensure timely delivery of all costume elements for rehearsals, technical rehearsals, and performances.
Supervise costume continuity, organization, tracking, and maintenance.
Qualifications + Skills
Prior professional experience designing costumes for musical theatre productions.
Strong costume construction, fitting, and alteration skills.
Excellent visual storytelling and conceptual design ability.
Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple productions simultaneously.
Strong communication and collaboration skills.
Comfortable working in fast-paced rehearsal and performance environments.
Ability to adapt designs creatively within budgetary and scheduling constraints.
